Markdown publishing inside WordPress
Ultimate Markdown Pro is designed for writers and site managers who create, import, convert, and export Markdown as part of their WordPress workflow. It provides tools for turning Markdown into post content, managing Markdown documents in an internal library, and moving documents into or out of WordPress.
The plugin works with both the Block Editor and the Classic Editor. In the Block Editor, its dedicated panels appear in the post editor sidebar. In the Classic Editor, the same workflow is available through meta boxes. This lets you work with Markdown without changing the editor environment already used by your site.
Import and create content
Markdown can be brought into WordPress in several ways. You can create posts from Markdown files or from documents stored in the plugin’s internal library. You can also upload a Markdown file through the Import Markdown panel, load a saved document with the Load Markdown panel, or paste and type Markdown directly into the Insert Markdown panel before converting it into post content.
The Pro edition adds additional import options and automatic image uploads during import. This can help keep a file-based publishing process together when Markdown content includes images. The plugin also supports extended Front Matter, using YAML key-value pairs at the beginning of a Markdown document to configure post settings through the available keys.
Manage a Markdown document library
Ultimate Markdown includes a dedicated plugin menu for creating, editing, and organizing Markdown documents. You can store Markdown content in the internal library, work with those documents from the post editor, and use document categories to organize the collection in the Pro version.
For file handling, the plugin supports bulk import of one or more Markdown files into the internal library. Documents created within the plugin can be exported as downloadable files, and the Pro edition adds further export options. It can also export Markdown documents from the internal library as ZIP archives.
Automation and conversion choices
Ultimate Markdown Pro includes REST API support for automation. It also provides seven Markdown parser options, giving you additional choices for how Markdown is processed during conversion. These capabilities are useful for workflows that combine a document library, repeatable imports, and programmatic operations.
Front Matter support connects Markdown source files with WordPress post settings, while the editor panels keep common conversion actions close to the post editing screen. Together, the tools support both occasional file imports and ongoing Markdown-based publishing.
Installation and first steps
Install Ultimate Markdown Pro in WordPress, then open the post editor or the plugin’s dedicated document menu. In the editor, choose Import Markdown, Load Markdown, or Insert Markdown according to your source. To manage a larger collection, use the document menu to create, edit, categorize, bulk-import, or export Markdown documents. Review the available Front Matter keys and parser options when preparing a structured publishing workflow.
