Image-based protection for WordPress forms
Image CAPTCHA Pro adds an SVG image CAPTCHA and honeypot to help improve spam protection across WordPress forms and selected site interfaces. It extends support beyond Contact Form 7 and WPForms to include Gravity Forms, WooCommerce login, registration and checkout forms, WordPress login and registration forms, and standard WordPress comments.
The plugin uses inline SVG images, and its listed Pro features include GDPR compliance, ADA/a11y/WCAG compliance, and a jQuery-free front end. It also supports WPML, providing an option for multilingual sites that use WPML with Contact Form 7 and the plugin.
Supported forms and screens
- Contact Form 7: Add the CAPTCHA with the [cf7ic] shortcode, or use the toggle option to hide it until a visitor interacts with the form.
- WPForms: Activate CAPTCHA support from the plugin’s settings page.
- Gravity Forms: Add CAPTCHA protection to supported Gravity Forms.
- WooCommerce: Optionally protect login, registration, and checkout forms.
- WordPress: Add protection to login and registration screens and default WordPress comments.
Control the CAPTCHA experience
Image CAPTCHA Pro provides settings for the appearance and wording of the CAPTCHA. Change the CAPTCHA message and error text, adjust the box color and border, and set font and icon colors and sizes independently. You can also change the selected-icon appearance, control where icons appear, and switch the box between full-width and content-width display.
For the CAPTCHA challenge itself, add icons to make random guessing less likely, with the available chance adjustable from one in three to one in ten. Select the icons to use, add icons from Font Awesome 4.7, or provide custom SVG icons. Icon titles can also be customized.
Additional anti-spam options
The plugin includes CAPTCHA refreshes on submit, a reverse honeypot that checks for human engagement with the form, and hashed answers intended to make the answers harder for automated spammers to read. These controls can be combined with the image challenge to create a broader form-protection workflow.
Installation and setup
Install and activate Image CAPTCHA Pro, then select the forms or WordPress areas where protection should be enabled. For Contact Form 7, place [cf7ic] in the form editor where the CAPTCHA should appear. Add the toggle option when the CAPTCHA should remain hidden until interaction. For WPForms, enable the feature in the plugin settings. Configure messages, icons, styling, and supported integrations before testing each protected form.
