Protect contact details across your site
Email Address Encoder Premium is designed to reduce exposure of email addresses and mailto links to email-harvesting robots. It searches WordPress content and encodes discovered addresses using decimal and hexadecimal HTML entities. The Premium edition extends this approach with full-page protection, hardened JavaScript and CSS techniques, improved phone-number protection, and built-in support for several widely used WordPress plugins.
The plugin works with content handled through WordPress filters, including posts, pages, comments, excerpts, text widgets, and other filtered content. The Premium edition is intended for sites where contact details may appear in several areas and where broader page coverage is useful.
Premium capabilities
- Full-page protection: Catch email addresses across the entire page rather than relying only on selected filtered content.
- Hardened protection: Use JavaScript and CSS techniques as part of the protection approach.
- Improved phone protection: Extend protection beyond email addresses to phone numbers.
- Plugin support: Use built-in support for ACF, Jetpack, WooCommerce, and many others.
Practical ways to use it
Use the plugin on a business website that displays contact addresses in page content, widgets, comments, or excerpts. It can also help when a site places email links in more than one template or content area. Phone numbers and other content can be handled with the [encode] shortcode.
For example, a phone number can be wrapped as [encode]+1 (555) 123-4567[/encode]. A telephone link can use the link attribute, such as [encode link=”tel:+15551234567″]+1 (555) 123-4567[/encode]. This provides a direct method for protecting content that is not automatically caught by the plugin’s filters.
Check protection with the Page Scanner
The Page Scanner is available under Settings > Email Encoder. Use it to review whether email addresses on your pages are protected. You can also inspect the plain HTML source of a page manually. Browser developer tools and web inspectors may automatically decode decimal and hexadecimal entities, so the plain source is the appropriate place to check the encoded markup.
Installation and setup
- Install and activate Email Address Encoder Premium in WordPress.
- Review the plugin settings under Settings > Email Encoder.
- Use the Page Scanner to check page coverage.
- Add the [encode] shortcode where phone numbers or other supported content need direct protection.
Email Address Encoder Premium provides a focused workflow for protecting contact information throughout WordPress, combining automatic scanning and encoding with full-page coverage, shortcode support, and compatibility with selected WordPress extensions.
