More control over the WordPress editor
WP Edit Pro is a paid edition of WP Edit that expands the default WordPress content editor with additional configuration and workflow tools. It is designed for people who want greater control over editor buttons, user access, and reusable content elements without relying on manual HTML or CSS for every task.
The Pro edition is useful for sites with multiple contributors, WordPress networks, or content workflows that need different editor arrangements for different user roles. It also provides a way to create custom widgets and place them in widget areas or inside the content editor.
Arrange every editor toolbar
WP Edit Pro provides drag-and-drop functionality for custom creation of all rows of editor buttons. This lets you organize the editor interface around the tools used most often, rather than working with a fixed arrangement. The broader WP Edit editor experience includes buttons and options for additional formatting and content tasks.
Available editor tools include inserting images, media, YouTube videos, and clip art. The editor can also support graphical table creation, including table cell border and background color adjustments. Other available buttons include subscript, superscript, emoticons, search and replace, an HTML editor, and preview.
Role-based editor arrangements
WP Edit Pro allows custom button arrangements for user roles. Different roles can receive access to different editor buttons, helping site administrators create more focused editing environments for particular contributors or publishing responsibilities.
This can be useful when a site has several people producing content but does not want every user to work with the same set of editor controls. Each role can be given an arrangement suited to its expected tasks.
Network installation and custom widgets
The Pro edition includes network installation functionality and is described as WP Network Ready. This supports workflows involving a WordPress network where editor configuration needs to be considered across network sites.
Its Extreme Custom Widget Builder can create custom widgets in a similar way to posts or pages. These custom widgets can then be inserted into any widget area or the content editor. This provides a practical method for preparing reusable content elements and placing them where they are needed without recreating the same material each time.
Content workflow support
WP Edit also supports access to shortcodes available in the WordPress environment, including shortcodes for columns and magazine-style layouts. The editor can be used for content with external media such as YouTube and Vimeo, as well as for adjusting fonts, styles, colors, and sizes.
For sites using excerpts, profile descriptions, widget areas, or shortcode-based content, the broader plugin functionality includes editor access in those areas. The Pro features build on this editing workflow with more extensive toolbar arrangement, user-role controls, network support, and custom widget creation.
Installation
Install WP Edit Pro in WordPress, then arrange the editor button rows with drag-and-drop controls. Configure role-based arrangements as needed, and create custom widgets for placement in widget areas or the content editor.
