Organize WooCommerce order numbers
Sequential Order Number for WooCommerce Premium helps arrange WooCommerce order numbers into a clear, consecutive sequence. WooCommerce normally shares WordPress’s ID system for posts, pages, media, and orders, so order numbers may skip numbers when other content has already used an ID. This plugin provides a dedicated custom sequence for WooCommerce orders.
Use the available settings to create order numbers that are easier to recognize, search, track, and reference during everyday store management. The sequence can apply to new orders and can also organize existing order numbers according to the configured format.
Build a custom order format
Premium gives you additional control over how order numbers are presented. Add a custom prefix or suffix, include the order date as a suffix, and choose from more order number templates. Templates can combine the order number with prefixes, dates, or other supported elements.
- Add a custom suffix to WooCommerce order numbers.
- Include the order date as a suffix.
- Choose from additional order number templates.
- Define a custom increment for the sequence.
- Set the starting number, prefix, order length, and other available format options.
- Preview the configured order number before applying the format.
Control sequence behavior
The plugin supports automatic resets for WooCommerce order numbers on a daily, monthly, or yearly schedule. This can help stores organize numbering into recurring time periods. You can also set a separate custom order sequence for free orders, keeping those orders distinct from the main paid-order sequence.
If your store has no existing orders, numbering can begin at 1 or at another starting value you select. If orders already exist, the sequence can continue from the latest order number. An option to keep existing order numbers is also available when configuring the plugin.
Practical order management
Sequential numbers make it easier to estimate order activity, locate order details, and maintain a consistent reference system. The plugin supports admin order search for custom order numbers and order tracking for finding order information. It also supports subscription orders and WooCommerce custom order numbers.
The Premium version is listed as compatible with HPOS and with several related WooCommerce tools, including shipment tracking, subscriptions, payment, invoice, packing slip, order import and export, point-of-sale, refund, and payment gateway plugins named in the product information. For integrations that retrieve order data, use the order number rather than the underlying order ID where applicable.
Installation and setup
Install the plugin in your WordPress site and activate it. Open the plugin settings, choose the starting number and desired order template, then configure prefixes, suffixes, dates, increments, length, reset behavior, and the separate free-order sequence as needed. Review the preview before saving your settings.
After setup, use the custom order numbers to search for orders and track order details. If you are working with existing orders, decide whether to retain their current numbers or apply the configured sequence before completing the setup.
