Backups, restores, and migrations in one workflow
JetBackup Premium is a WordPress backup and migration solution for creating, managing, restoring, and moving website data. You can work with full backups or choose specific files, folders, databases, or combinations of these items. Backups use TAR archives and the plugin is intended to support large websites, low-memory environments, and shared hosting.
The workflow is suitable for routine protection, website moves, and recovery tasks. You can create a backup, monitor its progress, download it, import a backup file through the wizard, or restore a selected backup. The plugin also supports migration across domains or hosting environments and includes serialized data refactoring for seamless migration.
Premium off-site destinations
Premium adds support for off-site remote backup destinations. Available destinations listed for the product include Amazon S3 and compatible services, FTP, SFTP, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, and pCloud.
Using remote destinations gives you another place to store backup files in addition to the website server. This is useful when planning a migration, maintaining backup copies, or separating stored backups from the WordPress installation being backed up.
Automation and backup management
JetBackup supports scheduled backups, allowing you to set the frequency and time for automated jobs. Multiple scheduled profiles let you schedule database and file backups at different frequencies. Retention settings let you specify how many backups to keep on the server.
- Create full backups or select particular files, folders, and database content.
- Run backups manually or schedule them at defined intervals.
- Monitor live progress during backup and restore operations.
- Cancel a backup while it is still in progress.
- View backup and restore logs, delete stored backups, or download files.
- Use background mode to run backups at low priority.
- Receive email notifications about backup success or failure.
- Export backups to cPanel and DirectAdmin hosting control panels.
Restore and migration use cases
Restores can be performed from available backup files, including files imported through the upload wizard. The plugin supports one-click restore workflows and provides selective subsite restore for WordPress Multisite. This makes it suitable for restoring a complete website, recovering selected content, or moving a site to another domain or host.
JetBackup can also restore backups created by a hosting provider through server-level integration. Its TAR-based approach is designed for efficient storage, while the plugin does not require extra libraries.
Installation and requirements
Install and activate JetBackup in WordPress, then open its backup tools to configure storage, backup contents, schedules, and retention. Before setup, the supplied requirements specify WordPress 6.0 or higher and PHP 7.4 or higher with zlib and cURL. A Linux-based server is recommended for optimal performance; Windows is supported but may have limitations due to known PHP issues.
JetBackup Premium includes off-site backup destinations and 24/7 premium support with a stated 15-minute service-level target.
