WordPress updates for social networks
XPoster Pro is the paid edition of XPoster, a WordPress tool for sharing site updates with Bluesky, Mastodon, and X. It helps publishers turn activity on their site into prepared social updates while keeping messages connected to the content being published or edited.
The plugin uses customizable status templates for posts, pages, and custom post types. Custom template tags can generate update text for individual items, giving site owners a practical way to shape how content is presented across supported social accounts.
Paid capabilities
- Author accounts: Authors can set up their own social accounts in their WordPress profiles.
- Delayed updates: Send status updates after a time delay rather than immediately.
- Scheduled update management: Plan updates for controlled publishing workflows.
- Site and author publishing: Post updates simultaneously to site accounts and author accounts.
- Comment previews and sending: Preview and send status updates for comments.
- Taxonomy filters: Filter updates by categories, tags, or custom taxonomies.
- Image uploads: Add images with alt attributes to social updates.
- Integrated Cards: Use integrated Card support where supported.
- Player Cards: Use Player Cards with integrated captions where supported.
- Older-post scheduling: Automatically schedule updates from older posts.
Practical publishing workflows
XPoster Pro can support a range of editorial arrangements. A publication may give individual authors control of their own accounts while also sending selected content through the site’s accounts. A marketing team can prepare delayed or scheduled updates around a content calendar, and a site with an established archive can automatically schedule updates from older posts.
Taxonomy filtering is useful when different categories, tags, or custom taxonomies need different social treatment. For example, a team can focus updates on a particular content group instead of sending every eligible item. Image uploads with alt attributes provide an option for adding visual material while maintaining associated descriptive text.
The underlying XPoster workflow also supports post tags as hashtags, alternate URLs in place of post permalinks, Google Analytics, XMLRPC remote clients, and external URL shorteners including YOURLS, Bitly, jotURL, and Hum. Rate limiting is included to help manage X.com API limits.
Supported networks and templates
The base plugin supports Bluesky, Mastodon, and X. Status templates can be customized for updates created when posts, pages, or custom post types are updated or edited. This makes the tool suitable for blogs, publishers, portfolios, and other WordPress sites that regularly share new or revised content.
Installation and setup
Install XPoster Pro in your WordPress site, then open its administration settings to connect the supported social accounts and configure status templates. Review author profile settings if individual authors will publish through their own accounts. Next, choose timing, taxonomy, media, card, and older-post options to match your workflow. Before relying on scheduled publishing, review a preview and confirm the intended account and message details.
XPoster Pro is designed for WordPress teams that want more control over who publishes updates, when updates are sent, which content is selected, and how social messages are assembled.
