WordPress data migration and management
WP Import Export Professional Edition, also presented as WP Import Export Pro, is a paid edition for moving and managing WordPress data across installations. It supports the import and export of posts, pages, custom post types, taxonomies, comments, and users through a guided workflow.
The plugin is designed for practical site administration, whether you are transferring content, preparing data for another WordPress installation, or creating repeatable import and export tasks. Files can be handled in several formats, while field controls and filtering help you work with the data you need.
Tools for controlled imports and exports
Active import and export tasks can be paused, resumed, or stopped at any stage. Background processing runs jobs asynchronously, which is useful for large imports and exports that should continue without keeping the browser task active. Background jobs can be monitored and managed, and multiple import and export tasks can be processed concurrently.
Powerful filtering options let you apply precise rules during export, such as selecting posts where the Post ID is greater than a specified value. Uploaded source data can also be filtered during import. Before exporting, fields can be rearranged and edited. For incoming data, drag-and-drop field mapping helps connect source fields with the appropriate WordPress fields.
Formats, schedules, and records
WP Import Export supports importing and exporting CSV, XLS, XLSX, JSON, TXT, ODS, XML, and ZIP archive files. The Professional or Pro edition also provides scheduled import and export through automatic cron-scheduled tasks. A centralized schedule management interface helps organize recurring jobs, with scheduling designed to run alongside background processing.
Detailed process and execution logs provide a record of import activity. Step-by-step logging for individual records can help you review how a task progressed and inspect the processing history.
Paid add-ons and integrations
The available Pro add-on options extend import and export workflows for specific WordPress data and services. These include integrations for ACF and ACF Pro, WPML, Polylang, WooCommerce, Yoast SEO, and Attributes. Pro import options also include Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and FTP/SFTP, while premium export options include ACF/ACF Pro, scheduled export, WooCommerce, WPML, Attributes, and Polylang.
These add-ons can support workflows involving custom fields, multilingual content, product data, taxonomy attributes, and files stored with supported external services.
Installation and first use
Install WP Import Export Lite in WordPress, then use the available upgrade path to the Professional or Pro edition. Create an import or export task, select the required data type and file format, apply filters where needed, and map fields before processing. For recurring work, configure a schedule and review the process log after the task runs.
