WordPress backup and migration with more control
UpdraftPlus Premium is a paid edition of the UpdraftPlus backup and migration plugin for WordPress. It is designed to help you back up, restore, and migrate websites while providing additional storage, scheduling, reporting, and management options beyond the free version.
You can create backups manually or schedule them at intervals including every 2, 4, 8, or 12 hours, daily, weekly, monthly, or fortnightly. Backups can be sent to multiple locations for added protection, and you can run them at set times, such as during periods of low traffic.
Premium backup capabilities
- Automatic pre-update backups: create a backup before WordPress or plugin updates, helping you restore the latest version if an update causes a problem.
- Incremental backups: add changes to the master backup instead of repeatedly creating a full backup, helping save server resources.
- Flexible retention: control how many backups are stored within a specified interval.
- Detailed reports: review backup information, including cryptographic checksums that let you verify the integrity of backup files.
- Additional backup content: back up non-WordPress files and databases, including tables belonging to an e-commerce store or custom WordPress core customisations.
- Database encryption: apply encryption to the database backup.
Remote storage and restoration
UpdraftPlus supports storage destinations including Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3 or compatible services, Rackspace Cloud, FTP, DreamObjects, OpenStack Swift, and email. With Premium, you also get Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Backblaze B2, SFTP, SCP, pCloud, WebDAV, and UpdraftVault.
UpdraftVault provides 1GB of integrated storage. You can restore selected components, such as plugins, themes, or the database, through the restoration workflow. Premium can also restore backups created by other backup plugins, including BackWPup, BackupWordPress, Simple Backups, and more.
Migration and site management
Premium migration allows migration to the destination site directly from the source site. The plugin also includes a built-in search-and-replace engine for changing old strings to reflect a new location, helping with moves to another host, server, or domain.
Multisite and multi-network compatibility supports broader WordPress installations. Backups and migrations can also be managed from WP-CLI. For multiple websites, UpdraftCentral can provide a central dashboard for managing backups, while UpdraftClone can create a temporary site clone for testing changes.
Installation and support
Install and activate the UpdraftPlus backup and migration plugin in WordPress, then configure its settings and backup destinations. Choose a manual or scheduled backup plan, select the content and storage locations required, and review the available restoration and migration options.
UpdraftPlus Premium customers can log a ticket with the support and development teams through the UpdraftPlus support hub. The source also recommends reviewing the FAQs and updating the plugin before requesting help.
