A flexible player for self-hosted video
Super Video Player Pro extends a modern, lightweight WordPress HTML5 video player for websites that need a more complete video presentation. It supports self-hosted MP4, HLS (.m3u8), and MPEG-DASH (.mpd) videos, allowing you to place video content on pages without coding.
The player is designed for responsive playback across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. It can be used for online courses, membership websites, video portfolios, product demonstrations, tutorial websites, educational platforms, business websites, documentation sites, media libraries, and blogs.
Build organized video experiences
Pro adds video playlists for arranging multiple videos in one player experience. Playlists can use Default, Horizontal, Vertical, or Grid layouts, giving you different ways to present a collection of videos. Continuous playlist playback can automatically move through the playlist, which is useful for lessons, tutorials, demonstrations, or other sequential content.
When visitors use different internet connections, multiple video quality options let them select the resolution that best suits their viewing conditions. Multiple player layouts provide additional presentation choices, while video titles and descriptions can be displayed above or below the player to add context to each item.
Control the viewing interface
Super Video Player Pro lets you show or hide individual player controls. Available controls include Play/Pause, Volume, Progress Bar, Captions, Settings, Fullscreen, Download, and Picture-in-Picture. Viewers can access playback speed and quality through the Settings menu.
- Initial Volume Control sets the default playback volume for each video.
- Custom Seek Time defines how many seconds users skip with keyboard shortcuts or player controls.
- Click to Play allows visitors to play or pause by clicking anywhere on the player.
- Picture-in-Picture lets visitors continue watching while browsing other pages or tabs.
- Custom Caption Styling helps match captions to the website design and improve readability.
The underlying player also supports multiple subtitle files, including VTT files in multiple languages. Accessibility-ready features include screen reader support, while responsive design and cross-browser compatibility support viewing in modern browsers.
Place players where they are needed
Super Video Player Pro works with Gutenberg blocks and shortcodes. Add and configure a player directly in the WordPress Block Editor, or embed one with a shortcode in posts, pages, widgets, and theme templates. This gives you a practical way to reuse video content across different parts of a WordPress website.
The plugin supports unlimited video players. It is also lightweight: a page with a player loads roughly 170 KB of player assets, while a page without one loads none of those assets. No jQuery is required.
Installation and setup
After the plugin is available in WordPress, create a video player with a Gutenberg block or shortcode. Select the self-hosted MP4, HLS, or MPEG-DASH source, then configure the layout, controls, subtitles, quality options, title, and description as required. For collections, add the videos to a playlist and choose the preferred playlist layout before placing the player on the target page.
