Bring structure to a growing WordPress media library
Real Media Library Pro is a file and folder manager for the WordPress Media Library. It helps organize large collections of images, videos, documents, and other uploaded files into a clear virtual folder structure. The Pro edition builds on the core media organization tools with additional features, including subfolders for more detailed classification.
Instead of searching through one long media list, you can arrange assets into folders, collections, and galleries that reflect the way your website is managed. This can be useful for agencies, publishers, stores, photographers, and any WordPress project with a substantial number of uploaded files.
Folders, subfolders, and shortcuts
Use the folder manager to create, rename, move, and delete folders. Real Media Library Pro also supports subfolders, allowing you to create deeper structures for projects, departments, campaigns, content types, or other workflows. Folders can be rearranged with drag and drop or sorted by criteria such as name.
Files can be dragged into folders, and folder contents can be ordered manually or by criteria such as title, date, or name. Shortcuts let you reference one file in multiple folders without creating another physical copy. These shortcuts require no additional storage space, so the same media item can be available in several relevant locations.
Faster uploads and media selection
Advanced upload management displays the current upload status, remaining time, and upload speed. Files can be uploaded directly to a selected folder from the WordPress media upload dialog. When inserting media into content, the folder structure appears on the left side of the dialog, making it easier to filter and locate the required file.
Bulk selection supports actions across multiple folders, while quick folder search helps you navigate larger structures. The interface also works in WordPress Media Library list mode and on touch devices, giving different users practical ways to browse and manage their assets.
Galleries, integrations, and development tools
Folder contents can be used to create dynamic galleries in the Gutenberg editor through a block or shortcode. This provides a practical workflow for maintaining a gallery by managing the related folder rather than rebuilding the gallery manually each time.
Real Media Library is Gutenberg-ready and compatible with major themes, page builders, and many plugins. It supports WordPress Multisite, with a separate folder tree for each site. For developers, the product provides a JavaScript API for React or plain JavaScript, WordPress actions and filters, an extensible PHP API, and REST API endpoints.
The plugin creates a virtual folder structure rather than changing the physical file structure of WordPress uploads. If the plugin is uninstalled, the media library returns to its previous organization. The product also includes GDPR/DSGVO support and does not collect personal data without consent.
