Accessibility tools for WordPress websites
EqualWeb widget is an AI-powered accessibility and monitoring solution designed to improve the browsing experience on websites. It adds an online accessibility menu with 27 functions and supports 32 languages, allowing visitors to choose controls that suit their individual needs.
The widget is intended for websites serving visitors with a wide range of disabilities, limitations, and disorders. Its available tools address needs associated with blindness or partial blindness, motor disabilities, Parkinson’s disease, visual impairments, epilepsy, cognitive disabilities, and age-related limitations.
Accessibility functions
The menu includes controls for screen reader adjustment, keyboard navigation, numeric navigation, blink blocking, text reading, voice commands, color adjustments, and font sizing. These options give visitors additional ways to interact with and read website content.
EqualWeb also provides customization options for the widget’s presentation. From the EqualWeb account, you can choose the preferred color, on-screen display, icons, sizing, background shape, language, and accessibility button placement. This makes it possible to align the interface more closely with the website’s design.
Monitoring and standards
The service includes real-time accessibility scan monitoring for ADA and WCAG 2.1 compliance to help identify and fix accessibility violations. A first monitor scan is included in all plans. EqualWeb states that its technology adheres to WCAG 2.1 guidelines and is continuously updated for applicable international regulations, including WCAG 2.1 AA+, US Section 508, and European Union Law EU 301549.
The widget is also described as GDPR and CCPA compliant because it does not collect personal or identifiable visitor data. EqualWeb products operate under the ISO/IEC 27001 standard, with facilities described as secure against electronic and physical intrusions.
How the widget works
EqualWeb is added on the client side and does not change, delete, save, or update the website’s original source code. The supplied code operates through the Document Object Model using CSS and JavaScript, without system-level or server-level interfaces. The tool loads after the website has loaded and rendered in the browser.
The service uses compressed files and caching, and its stated operating model is intended to avoid affecting site performance. Visitors can then open the accessibility menu and select the controls they need.
Installation and ongoing assistance
Install the EqualWeb WordPress plugin or add the provided line of code to the website’s source code on the client side. Once the widget is installed, configure its design, language, button placement, and other available settings through the EqualWeb account.
EqualWeb provides technical and adjustment assistance covering installation, ongoing customer and end-user handling, feedback, and malfunction reports. The service is also presented with a seven-day free trial for evaluation.
