Take control of individual WordPress URLs
Custom Permalink Editor Pro is designed for site owners, content creators, marketers, and developers who need more control over individual WordPress URLs. It lets you replace default permalinks with clean, readable custom paths for selected content while leaving the site’s overall permalink structure unchanged.
The Pro edition includes the plugin’s custom permalink tools and adds full editing capabilities for custom post types. This makes it suitable for sites that publish specialized content such as portfolio items, product pages, listings, or other content types registered in WordPress.
Practical permalink editing
Customise a URL directly from the WordPress administration area. Open a post or page, find the Custom Permalink Editor box, enter the desired path, then save and publish. The new permalink is applied to that individual item rather than forcing a global change across the site.
- Create keyword-focused URLs for blog posts.
- Use marketing-friendly paths for landing pages.
- Build branded permalinks for portfolio items and product pages.
- Keep a familiar URL structure when moving content from another platform.
- Edit category and tag permalinks from the WordPress admin panel.
Permalinks are sanitised automatically to keep them URL-safe. Special characters and accents are handled appropriately, and filters are available when a developer needs to adjust accent handling.
Custom post types and existing URLs
Existing custom permalinks for custom post types continue to work. With Pro, you can also create new custom permalinks for custom post types and edit their existing custom URLs. This provides a practical workflow for managing custom content without treating every content type the same way.
Developer controls
Developers can use the available filters to adapt the plugin to particular server and content requirements. A filter can enable PATH_INFO support in the $_SERVER variable. Other filters can exclude selected permalinks from processing, such as a sitemap URL, or remove the Custom Permalink Editor form from a specific post type.
These controls are useful when a site has system URLs, special pages, or content types that should retain their normal editing workflow.
Reversible URL changes
Deactivating the plugin disables the custom permalinks and returns posts and pages to their default WordPress URLs. The content itself remains in place; the change concerns the URLs used for access. If an existing URL is changed, consider setting up 301 redirects to help maintain its SEO value.
