Build structured WordPress content
WCK PRO extends WordPress Creation Kit, a set of tools for creating and maintaining custom post types, custom taxonomies, custom fields, and metaboxes. It is intended for site administrators who want to define structured content from the WordPress admin interface. The underlying tools use standard custom fields to store data, while the Pro features add ways to present and collect that data without writing PHP for front-end templates.
The Custom Fields Creator provides an interface for setting up metaboxes for posts, pages, and custom post types. Available field types include WYSIWYG editor, upload, text, textarea, select, checkbox, radio, number, HTML, time-picker, phone, currency select, color picker, and heading. WCK PRO adds date-picker, country select, user select, and CPT select fields.
Flexible field structures
Custom fields can be targeted to particular page templates, custom post types, or individual IDs. Repeater Fields and Repeater Groups support repeatable information, and repeater fields can be sorted with drag and drop. Image and file uploads use the WordPress Media Uploader. Data handling is performed with Ajax, and field data is saved as postmeta.
These tools can support structured records such as books, where separate fields hold a book name and an author name. Field slugs are created automatically from field titles, allowing the stored information to be referenced for display through code or through the Swift Templates module.
Custom post types and taxonomies
The Custom Post Type Creator provides an admin interface for creating and editing custom post types. It includes advanced labeling options and exposes most of the arguments used by the register_post_type() function. Built-in or custom taxonomies can be attached to post types.
The Taxonomy Creator similarly provides an interface for creating and editing custom taxonomies. Taxonomies can be attached to built-in or custom post types, helping you organize content without programming knowledge. Together, these tools provide a central workflow for defining content structures and the relationships between them.
Pro tools for front-end workflows
- Swift Templates: Build front-end templates from the WordPress admin UI without writing PHP code. Display registered custom post types, custom fields, and taxonomies within the current theme.
- Front-end Posting: Create forms for content creation and editing.
- Options Page Creator: Create option pages for a theme or plugin.
- Additional field types: Use date-picker, country select, user select, and CPT select fields alongside the other supported inputs.
Installation and setup
Install WCK PRO in your WordPress site, then use its admin tools to define custom fields, metaboxes, post types, taxonomies, templates, forms, or option pages. A practical workflow is to create the content structure first, assign fields and taxonomies, and then use Swift Templates or Front-end Posting to present and manage the resulting content.
