WooCommerce invoicing for Greek requirements
Timologia for WooCommerce PRO adds invoicing functionality to the WooCommerce checkout and administration workflow. It is designed for stores that need customers to request an invoice and provide details such as VAT number, tax office, and profession alongside their order information.
The plugin also keeps these details available beyond checkout. Administrators can view or edit invoice information from the user profile and order screens, use saved customer details when handling phone orders, and include invoice fields in emails sent to customers.
Checkout fields and invoice choices
When a customer asks for an invoice, the relevant fields can be made required. The checkout can collect VAT, tax office, and profession details, while the company field can be moved alongside the invoice fields. If the company field is moved, it becomes required.
PRO also lets you change the wording used in the invoice selection dropdown. Instead of the default “Yes” and “No” labels, you can use alternatives such as “Invoice” and “Receipt”. Required fields can be marked with the required CSS, helping the checkout present mandatory information consistently.
VAT validation and business details
A central PRO capability is VAT validation through external tools identified in the product information. Customer VAT numbers can be checked against the EU VIES tool. If a VAT number fails the check, the order will not proceed and the customer will be notified. When validation succeeds, the response from VIES is recorded in the administrator’s order screen.
VAT validation can also be disabled when that workflow is not appropriate for a particular store. In addition, customer VAT details can be validated against the AADE tool and fields can be filled automatically. The product information also describes an AADE-related option for getting VAT details in the backend and creating a customer account.
Administration and order handling
Invoice fields are inserted into the backend user profile so administrators can review or edit the information stored for a customer. The same fields appear in admin order details. For a phone order, an administrator can pull the data from the user profile and edit it as needed.
This creates a practical workflow for online and assisted orders: collect invoicing information at checkout, retain it in the customer profile, review it from the order screen, and communicate the fields through customer emails.
Planned document features
The supplied product information lists PDF invoice creation with custom numbering and PDF receipt creation with custom numbering as “Coming Soon”, along with POL39 as “Coming Soon”. These items should therefore be treated as planned or not currently available capabilities rather than active features.
Installation and requirements
Install and activate the plugin in a WordPress site using WooCommerce, then configure the invoice fields, company-field placement, invoice-choice wording, and VAT validation behavior for the store’s workflow. Before installation, check the listed requirements: WordPress 3.5.1 or newer, Apache 2.1 or newer, and PHP 5.4 or newer.
