Bring interactive flipbooks into WordPress
FlippingBook Business is a paid plan for using the FlippingBook WordPress Plugin to place interactive HTML5 flipbooks on WordPress pages and posts. Rather than embedding a PDF file directly, the plugin lets you display flipbooks created with FlippingBook Online or FlippingBook Publisher.
This workflow is useful for digital magazines, brochures, catalogs, and other PDF-based documents that need to appear as an integrated feature of a website. The flipbook is created through a FlippingBook solution first, then embedded in WordPress using its sharing link or WordPress embed options.
Simple oEmbed workflow
After you have a flipbook ready, copy its sharing link. In the WordPress admin area, activate the FlippingBook Plugin, then paste the link into the body of a post or page. The link is converted into a FlippingBook oEmbed automatically.
This approach avoids manually working with an embed code for the basic workflow. It is suitable when you want to add a prepared publication to an existing WordPress page while keeping the insertion process straightforward.
Responsive display settings
The plugin includes an admin page where you can adjust oEmbed settings. You can make FlippingBook oEmbeds responsive so they fill the available container width while retaining the ratio specified in the oEmbed ratio field.
The responsive setting applies to new oEmbeds. If you want the setting to affect existing FlippingBook oEmbeds, you need to clear the oEmbed cache. This gives you control over how newly added flipbooks fit within the layout of your WordPress website.
Custom ratios, domains, and shortcodes
A custom oEmbed ratio helps you define the proportions used by the responsive embed. FlippingBook Online users with a Custom Domain can enter that domain in the relevant plugin field. This enables oEmbed and shortcode support for the custom domain.
For more control over presentation, use a shortcode. In FlippingBook Online, choose Embed > Embed into WordPress. In FlippingBook Publisher, choose Publication > Get Embed Code > WordPress when hosting on the cloud. The shortcode provides additional ways to customize the WordPress flipbook beyond the basic pasted-link method.
Practical uses
- Publish digital magazines and brochures within WordPress pages.
- Present catalogs and other PDF-based documents as interactive HTML5 flipbooks.
- Use responsive embeds that adapt to the available content width.
- Apply custom-domain support when using a configured FlippingBook Online Custom Domain.
- Use shortcodes when the standard oEmbed workflow needs further customization.
Installation and setup
First create a flipbook in FlippingBook Online or FlippingBook Publisher by uploading and customizing a PDF. Copy the finished flipbook’s sharing link, install and activate the FlippingBook Plugin from the WordPress admin area, and paste the link into a post or page.
The plugin is available starting from the Business plan. It does not create a flipbook from a PDF directly inside WordPress; a FlippingBook Online or FlippingBook Publisher account and a prepared flipbook are required.
