Expand content without interrupting reading
Read More Without Refresh Pro is a WordPress content-expansion and growth toolkit. It lets visitors reveal hidden text instantly, without a page reload, while the hidden content remains in the initial HTML and stays crawlable by search engines. This makes it suitable for articles, product information, long pages, and other layouts where you want to keep the initial view focused without removing the complete content from the page.
The basic workflow uses the shortcode [read more] followed by the content and the closing tag [/read]. Pro also provides sitewide automation, a Gutenberg InnerBlocks block, and an Elementor widget for broader implementation. It works with Gutenberg and page builders that render shortcodes.
Growth features for content and conversions
- Use a Content Locker to request an email address or social share before revealing content. Integrations include Mailchimp, Brevo, MailPoet, and webhooks, with leads stored locally.
- Add a Teaser Paywall with soft, SEO-safe behavior or hard mode, including a continue-reading prompt for non-members.
- Generate AI summaries using your own OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini key. Summaries are generated once per post rather than per visitor.
- Track page and button clicks, unlocks, leads, CTA conversions, daily trends, date ranges, and CSV exports in the analytics dashboard.
- Test up to five button texts with A/B testing and apply the winning text with one click.
- Show an engaged-user CTA when a reader expands content and track conversions.
Sitewide controls and presentation
Auto-Apply can collapse long posts, pages, products, and WooCommerce category descriptions without shortcodes. Auto-Collapse Sections can turn H2 and H3 headings into accordions and create a table of contents with deep links. Global Content Blocks let you write information such as shipping, size, or returns details once and reuse it across pages.
Pro includes 20 button templates, nine animation types, accordion and FAQ mode with schema, conditional display rules, Font Awesome and Google Fonts options, advanced styling, configurable smooth-scroll offsets, deep linking, remembered state, and an Expand/Collapse All option using [read_all]. Truncate Mode, GDPR Mode, settings import and export, and lazy loading for hidden content are also included. Lazy loading loads heavy hidden content only when expanded.
Accessibility, tracking, and setup
The plugin includes ARIA support, keyboard navigation with Enter and Space, screen-reader support, sanitization, and no inline JavaScript. Print optimization can automatically expand content for printing. When gtag is present, GA4 events can be fired automatically, and the rmwr:expand JavaScript event can be used with GTM or custom scripts. Cache-proof tracking is described as working with WP Rocket and Cloudflare.
To set up Pro, add the shortcode around the content you want to hide, or use the Gutenberg InnerBlocks block or Elementor widget. For larger sites, configure Auto-Apply, reusable Content Blocks, analytics, and import or export settings according to the required workflow.
