Manage WordPress theme and plugin files
Theme Editor Pro is a paid WordPress editing and file-management tool for customizing themes and plugins directly. It combines code editing with controls for creating, removing, uploading, downloading, and organizing files and folders in themes and plugins. This provides a central interface for administrators who need to work with site files without moving between separate tools.
The code editors support PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. A Fancy Box Code Mirror editor is included for working with supported code files. Theme Editor Pro can also download an entire theme or plugin, which is useful when a complete copy of the selected files is needed for local handling or reference.
Theme editing and child themes
For theme work, the plugin can create and remove folders and files, upload and download theme files, and download a whole theme. It also includes tools to create a new child theme and duplicate an existing child theme. The query or selector feature and the option to move a file from a parent theme to a child theme support workflows that separate customized files from the parent theme structure.
Theme image management is included as well. Administrators can upload and download images, change and upload a new screenshot for a selected theme, and view all images associated with the selected theme. A theme preview and child-theme permission controls are also listed among the available features.
Plugin file management
Theme Editor Pro extends similar controls to plugins. Administrators can create and remove plugin folders and files, upload and download plugin files, and download a complete plugin. These tools can be used when reviewing plugin structure, transferring files, or making direct code changes to a plugin.
Because the editor supports several common web languages, it can accommodate different WordPress customization tasks in the same workspace. The available file actions cover both individual items and complete theme or plugin downloads.
Permissions and notifications
The Pro feature set includes user permissions and user role permissions. These controls can help determine which users or roles are allowed to access editing functions. Email notifications to the administrator are also included in the extended features, providing notification support for the relevant plugin activity.
Installation and requirements
Install Theme Editor Pro as a WordPress plugin, then open its interface to select a theme or plugin and choose the required file operation. From there, use the code editor for PHP, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, or use the file controls to create, remove, upload, download, or organize items. Theme Editor lists minimum requirements of WordPress 3.3 or later, PHP 5.x, and MySQL 5.x.
