Organize taxonomy terms into useful groups
Tag Groups Pro helps structure WordPress taxonomy terms so visitors can browse them in clearer, more purposeful displays. Instead of presenting every term as one large list, you can separate terms by topics such as places, people, features, or years.
The plugin works with tags and most other flat taxonomies, including WooCommerce product tags. It does not support hierarchical taxonomies such as categories. Term groups can be presented in posts, pages, blocks, or shortcodes, giving you several ways to add organized taxonomy navigation to your site.
Pro displays and interactive tools
Advanced tag presentations
Tag Groups Pro includes an advanced Tag Cloud with many customization options. The Table Tag Cloud arranges tags in a table and uses groups as headers, creating a structured view for sites with larger or more varied term collections.
The Shuffle Box lets visitors filter tags by their names or by tag groups. Tag Cloud Search adds a search box to static tag displays, including Cloud, Tabs, Accordion, and Table layouts.
Post filtering
Toggle Post Filter allows visitors to dynamically search for posts by selecting tags. Dynamic Post Filter provides another approach, using a dropdown menu that displays tags for post searching. These tools can help visitors move from taxonomy terms to relevant content without relying on a single undifferentiated tag cloud.
Available display formats
Along with the Pro additions, Tag Groups includes several display formats available through shortcodes and Gutenberg blocks. Tag Lists show tags in columns sorted into groups. Tabbed Tag Clouds place grouped tags in tabs, while Accordion Tag Clouds use vertically stacked accordion groups.
Alphabetical Tag Clouds arrange tags by their first letter under tabs. Alphabetical Tag Index displays terms in columns according to their initial letter. Post Lists can display posts with a specific tag or posts in a particular tag group.
Customize the term experience
Display settings let you append or prepend text to each tag, add separators, choose the link target, set the smallest and largest font sizes, and display the post count. These options help adapt grouped term displays to different layouts and content structures.
Tag Groups supports multilingual websites through compatibility with WPML. This allows you to use a different tag group name for each language.
Practical uses
Use grouped terms to organize a large archive by subject, build a browsable index of names or places, present WooCommerce product tags by collection, or help visitors filter posts through selected tags. Shortcodes and Gutenberg blocks make the displays available in both content editing and page layout workflows.
Installation and upgrade
Tag Groups Pro is the Pro version of Tag Groups. To use the additional Pro features, upgrade to Tag Groups Pro and work with its display options through shortcodes or Gutenberg blocks. The Pro edition also includes expert support, as stated in the product information.
