WordPress security with a practical workflow
Really Simple Security Pro extends Really Simple Security with a broader set of tools for protecting a WordPress website. It brings together SSL enforcement, mixed-content handling, firewall controls, security headers, vulnerability measures, login protection, and access controls in a modular security plugin designed with performance and ease of use in mind.
The plugin is intended for site owners who want to improve security without adding unnecessary complexity. A short onboarding setup helps you configure the available protection, while disabled features do not load redundant code.
Advanced SSL and content protection
Really Simple Security Pro can enforce HTTPS across your site and includes an advanced mixed-content scan and fixer. It detects files requested over HTTP and helps change those requests to HTTPS on both the front end and back end.
You can also enable HTTP Strict Transport Security and configure the site for the HSTS Preload list. These tools support a workflow in which SSL configuration is checked, mixed content is identified, and HTTPS enforcement is applied more consistently.
Firewall and access controls
The included WordPress firewall is designed to stop bots, crawlers, and other unwanted activity through several configurable controls. It can block crawlers that generate unusual numbers of 404 errors and lets you manage access by region.
- Automated and customisable firewall rules
- IP address blocklist and allowlist controls
- Region blocking to allow or block access from specific regions
- Blocking based on IP addresses or usernames
- CAPTCHA options after a failed login, using hCaptcha or Google reCAPTCHA
These settings are useful for sites that need to restrict specific traffic, respond to repeated login attempts, or create a more controlled access policy.
Security headers and vulnerability measures
Security headers help protect visitors against risks such as clickjacking, cross-site-forgery attacks, stolen login credentials, and malware. Really Simple Security Pro supports X-XSS-Protection, X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options, a Referrer Policy, and CORS headers. It can also automatically generate a WordPress-tailored Content Security Policy and works independently of server configuration on Apache, LiteSpeed, NGINX, and other configurations.
Vulnerability Detection notifies you when plugins, themes, or WordPress core contain vulnerabilities. Vulnerability Measures add configurable responses, including repeated attempts to force an update, so a critical vulnerability does not remain unattended.
Login protection and installation
Login Protection lets you allow or enforce two-factor authentication for selected user roles. Users receive their two-factor code by email. Existing hardening options also address issues such as code execution in the uploads folder, login feedback, user enumeration, XML-RPC, directory browsing, and restricted usernames.
To install, add Really Simple Security Pro to your WordPress site, activate it, and follow the short onboarding setup. Review SSL, firewall, headers, vulnerability, login, and access-control settings, then enable the measures appropriate for your site.
