Organize content into clear series
PublishPress Series Pro is a WordPress publishing tool for grouping related content into ordered issues, collections, and continuing series. It is designed for magazines, newspapers, publishers, teachers, comic artists, and writers who need to present multiple pieces of content as one structured reading experience.
Use it to assemble monthly magazine issues, group newspaper articles by topic, arrange lessons, or organize chapters in an overall story. Content can be added to an existing series while writing, or a new series can be started from the editing workflow.
Build and manage each series
Series Pro supports custom post types, allowing series to include regular WordPress posts, pages, and other custom post types. Parts can even come from different post types, such as a post followed by a page and another custom content type. This makes the structure suitable for publishing systems with more than one kind of content.
The Pro edition also lets you add one post to multiple series. A single article, lesson, or chapter can therefore appear in more than one relevant collection. When content is inserted into the middle of an existing series, the plugin adjusts the order so the sequence remains organized.
Each series can have its own image, giving an issue, story arc, or collection a visual identity. The post list can be filtered by series, which helps editors review the content already assigned to a particular collection.
Present series information to readers
Choose from several ways to show series details within posts:
- Series Post List Boxes: display the posts in the current series, with options such as titles, featured images, authors, and publishing dates.
- Series Post Details: show a post’s position, such as part 3 of 8 in a named series.
- Series Post Navigation: provide previous and next links so readers can move through the sequence.
Pro shortcodes provide additional placement control. Use series shortcodes such as [series_post_list_box], [series_nav], [series_meta], and [publishpress_series_categories] to insert series information at a specific point in post content rather than relying only on automatic placement. The Pro edition also includes extra tokens.
Order, schedule, and publish series content
The Publish Series screen gives editors a central place to manage posts connected to a series. You can reorder parts, schedule them for publication, publish them, or unpublish them as a group. This is useful when a complete series is prepared in advance and needs a defined release sequence.
Installation and setup
Install PublishPress Series Pro in WordPress, then open its settings and begin creating or editing a series. Assign posts, pages, or custom post types from the editing screen, set their order, and choose how series information should appear. Add the available shortcodes where you need more precise control over the display.
