Manage WordPress and PHP limits
MaxLimits Pro is a WordPress plugin for adjusting limits that can affect uploads, form submissions, page-builder saves, imports, exports, backups, and demanding plugins. It is designed for site owners who need to work with settings such as upload_max_filesize, post_max_size, memory_limit, max_execution_time, max_input_time, and max_input_vars without manually editing wp-config.php, php.ini, or .htaccess.
The plugin provides a dashboard for selecting recommended values or entering custom values. A live server monitor shows the limits currently active in the PHP environment, so you can compare the values you requested with those your server is actually enforcing.
Core limit controls
Use MaxLimits to work with several common server settings:
- Maximum upload file size: Support larger images, videos, and other files where the server permits it.
- Maximum post size: Help accommodate large form submissions and page-builder saves.
- PHP memory limit: Provide more resources for demanding plugins such as WooCommerce or page builders.
- Maximum execution time: Allow longer processes, including imports, exports, and backups, to complete without timing out.
- Maximum input time: Give scripts more time to parse input data during larger uploads.
- Maximum input variables: Accommodate complex menus, theme options, and page-builder saves.
MaxLimits can attempt to set limits at runtime using ini_set(). When a hosting environment restricts those changes, the plugin also provides an optional experimental method for writing rules directly to the .htaccess file.
Pro tools for demanding sites
MaxLimits Pro adds features intended for situations where a site needs more guided control or recovery options. Emergency Recovery Mode provides a Rescue Link intended to help fix the site if you are locked out of the WordPress dashboard.
The Pro edition also includes advanced one-click optimizers with specific High Power modes for WooCommerce and heavy page builders. These options provide a more focused starting point than choosing every value individually. In addition, Pro includes priority support with direct assistance from the developers at DominoPress.
Recommended workflow
Open the MaxLimits settings and review the Current Server Values panel first. Select a recommended value from the available options or enter a custom value for the setting you need to adjust. Save the limits, then check the server monitor to confirm what is active.
If the active values do not change, the hosting provider may have locked those PHP settings. In that situation, open the Direct File Writing card, enable Enable Direct .htaccess Writing (Experimental), and save the writing method. Then return to the Limit Settings card, save the desired values, and review the current server values again. Hosting restrictions can still affect what is possible.
Installation and first setup
Install MaxLimits Pro through the WordPress administration area and open Settings > MaxLimits. Review the server information, choose the limits relevant to your site, and save them. For WooCommerce or heavy page-builder sites, review the Pro optimizer options. Keep the live server panel available when checking whether changes have taken effect.
MaxLimits Pro brings limit controls, server visibility, recovery assistance, and specialized optimization modes together in one WordPress settings area.
