Inline related recommendations inside your content
Inline Related Posts Pro is a WordPress plugin for placing related-post boxes directly within the body of your articles. Instead of limiting recommendations to the end of a post, footer, or author area, it introduces relevant reading opportunities while visitors are already engaged with the page.
This approach is useful for blogs, editorial sites, and content publishers that want to connect readers with more of their existing articles. The plugin is designed to support engagement, page views, and a lower bounce rate by presenting additional reading within the main content flow.
Automatic placement with content-aware handling
The plugin can automatically add multiple related-post boxes to all your posts. Its algorithm detects line breaks and understands HTML tags, helping avoid placing boxes in unsuitable locations or disrupting paragraphs and headings. This provides a practical way to add recommendations across a content library without manually editing every article.
Inline Related Posts can also be used alongside another related-post plugin. Its boxes appear inside the content rather than at the end of the post, so the two approaches serve different positions on the page.
Styles and Pro capabilities
The Pro edition includes additional styles and features beyond the standard plugin. The available presentation options are built around combinations of themes, colors, and hover treatments. The source plugin describes more than 20 style combinations, giving site owners ways to adapt inline recommendation boxes to the visual direction of their site.
These options can help you create a more noticeable or more coordinated reading path without changing the main purpose of the article. Choose a presentation that fits your content layout, then use the same approach across posts where automatic recommendations are appropriate.
Shortcode control
For more direct control, the plugin provides the [irp] shortcode. You can place a box wherever you want within content. The shortcode can also work with selected post IDs, categories, or tags, allowing recommendations to be limited to a defined group.
- [irp] places a related-post box where the shortcode is added.
- [irp posts=”183,179,191,195″] displays a box with a link to a random post from the listed posts.
- [irp cats=”3″] targets posts from selected categories, with comma-separated values available for multiple categories.
- [irp tags=”18″] targets posts with selected tags, also supporting comma-separated values.
Practical workflow
After adding the plugin to WordPress, decide whether recommendations should be added automatically across posts or placed selectively with shortcodes. Review the available style combinations, select a presentation, and use category, tag, or post targeting when a more focused recommendation set is needed.
Installation
Install the Inline Related Posts plugin in your WordPress site, activate it, and configure the placement and presentation settings. You can then allow automatic insertion or add the [irp] shortcode to selected content. Test the result on representative posts to confirm that the boxes appear in the intended locations.
