Build WordPress pages with Genesis Pro
Genesis Pro is the enhanced subscription edition of Genesis Blocks, a collection of page-building blocks for the Gutenberg block editor. It is intended for content creators, marketers, and developers who want richer tools for creating and launching WordPress sites with block-based layouts.
Genesis Blocks supplies customizable building blocks for page sections, content, calls to action, and other common site elements. Available blocks include Section & Layout, Advanced Columns, Newsletter, Pricing, Post Grid, Container, Testimonial, Inline Notice, Accordion, Share Icons, Call-To-Action, Spacer & Divider, Author Profile, and Drop Cap.
Use ready-made layouts and sections
Genesis Pro adds a larger library of design resources inside the block editor. It includes 2 new blocks, 26 pre-built full-page layouts, and 56 pre-built sections. These resources give you starting points for assembling pages, rather than requiring every layout to be created from an empty editor.
You can also save and reuse your own sections and layouts. This supports a more repeatable workflow when building multiple pages or maintaining recurring content patterns across a site.
Manage editing access
Advanced block-level user permissions are included with Genesis Pro. These controls are useful for sites where different people create, review, or maintain content and where access to particular blocks needs to be managed at a more detailed level.
Work with Genesis products
The subscription provides access to and support for the Genesis Framework and all 35 StudioPress-made premium child themes. Genesis Pro also includes additional advanced features for the rest of the Genesis Product Suite, extending its role beyond individual blocks and page layouts.
Genesis Blocks can be used with any theme, although StudioPress recommends Gutenberg-ready themes such as Revolution for presentation. The plugin also has Google AMP support built into each block. AMP is a publishing format designed to help mobile pages load quickly for Google search users without extraneous data.
Important editor details
The Genesis Blocks Button block is deprecated in favor of the WordPress Core Buttons block. When you open the block editor, Genesis Blocks Button blocks automatically convert to the Core Buttons block. This conversion does not occur until the editor is opened, and custom styling may change, particularly when it targets classes other than gb-block-button.
Practical workflow
- Open the Gutenberg block editor and select a pre-built section or full-page layout.
- Adjust the layout with Genesis Blocks content and design blocks.
- Save useful custom sections or layouts for reuse on later pages.
- Apply block-level permissions when different users need different editing access.
- Use a Genesis Framework or StudioPress child theme when those products fit the site.
Installation
Install Genesis Blocks in WordPress, activate it, and open the block editor to access its blocks, sections, and layouts. Genesis Pro features become available through the Genesis Pro subscription. Genesis Blocks requires WordPress 5.3 or later and includes user and developer documentation for setup and use.
