Manage multiple domains from one WordPress site
Domain Mapping System Pro helps you organize multiple domains and present different sections of a WordPress website through separate domain-based experiences. Instead of creating standalone WordPress installations for every project, you can assign domains to published resources from a single WordPress Admin Dashboard.
The plugin supports content such as posts, pages, products, custom post types, archives, categories, and custom taxonomies. This makes it suitable for projects that need distinct online destinations while keeping content management within one WordPress installation.
Create domain-based microsites
With the Pro edition, you can create “microsites” by grouping published resources around a particular domain. Each domain can have its own homepage and inner pages, allowing you to structure focused sections for brands, locations, audiences, campaigns, or other parts of a larger website.
Global Domain Mapping can automatically map all published content on your site, so visitors see mapped domains throughout the available content. You can also use global parent page mapping and global archive mapping to extend domain organization across related content.
Flexible mapping options
- Map subdomains to the primary WordPress site.
- Map subdirectory URLs to content located elsewhere on the site.
- Map archives, blog categories, and custom taxonomies.
- Force redirects for visitors using mapped domains.
- Use global or selective URL rewriting.
- Set a favicon for each domain.
- Add custom code per domain.
These options support practical setups such as country- or language-focused domains, separate sections for physical locations, and new audience or location destinations without changing the primary domain.
SEO, WooCommerce, and multisite capabilities
Domain Mapping System Pro includes Yoast SEO integration for mapped domains, with options for custom titles, descriptions, keywords, and sitemaps. This gives each mapped domain additional control over its search presentation.
The plugin also includes WooCommerce integration for Shop, Checkout, and Cart pages. Products and product archives can be mapped, while the listed WooCommerce integration provides additional control for store-related pages.
WordPress Multisite is supported in both the free and Pro versions. When configured for a multisite network, each network site can map its own domains. The source specifies that multisite setup requires the proper configuration, including a custom sunrise.php file.
Installation and setup
Install Domain Mapping System Pro in WordPress, configure its settings, and create the required domain mappings. On the hosting server, add each additional domain as an alias, with the root folder for the domains pointing to the WordPress installation. Each domain should also have an appropriate SSL certificate when HTTPS is used. The source notes that all domains must have SSL certificates or none of them can display secured content through the mapping.
Once the server configuration and plugin settings are ready, assign domains to the relevant content, archives, taxonomies, or microsite groups and manage the configuration from the WordPress dashboard.
