Translate WordPress content from the admin
The DeepL Pro API plugin, also referred to as DeepL API Pro, extends WordPress translation workflows for sites that need more than individual post and page translations. It connects WordPress to the DeepL API so selected content can be translated into different languages from within the WordPress administration area.
The plugin is designed for a controlled workflow. Instead of translating content automatically in the background, you choose the content and initiate the request. This makes it suitable for editors who want to review what is sent for translation and when the translation request takes place.
Paid capabilities
The paid editions include the extended features identified for the Pro and Premium offering. These features are useful when your site includes more than standard post and page content or when individual translation requests are not practical for your publishing workflow.
- Translate products.
- Translate meta fields.
- Run batch translations.
- Translate posts and pages from WordPress.
- Translate strings into different languages.
- View current and remaining API usage.
The paid version works with content editors in the same way as the free version, including editors such as Elementor and Blocks. However, compatibility can depend on the specific content editor and configuration. Testing the plugin on your website before purchase is recommended because the plugin does not guarantee that every content editor will work perfectly with the DeepL API.
How the workflow works
Choose content and request a translation
For standard editor-based translations, the plugin adds a translate button to the edit post page. The text selected for translation may include the post title, excerpt, and content. For supported extended workflows, the paid edition also addresses products, meta fields, and batch translation needs.
Keep requests explicit
Data is sent only when you click the Translate button in the post editor metabox. There are no automatic or background translations. The requested text, your DeepL API key for authentication, and the source and target language codes are sent to DeepL servers through secure HTTPS requests.
API requirements
An active DeepL API subscription with API access is required. Both the free DeepL API Free plan and paid DeepL API Pro plan work with the plugin. Standard DeepL User or Teams plans do not include the required API access, so they cannot be used for this purpose.
Translation services are provided through the DeepL API. Review the applicable DeepL terms, privacy information, and API documentation before connecting the service to your WordPress site.
Installation
Install the paid plugin in WordPress, activate it, and configure the connection with your DeepL API key. If you are replacing the free version, test your site configuration first, then follow the plugin’s upgrade requirements. After setup, open an editable post or page, use the translate control, and check the usage display. For products, meta fields, or batch work, use the relevant paid workflow and review the results in your WordPress administration area.
