Rule-Based Alt Text for WordPress
Bialty Pro is a WordPress alt text automation plugin for site owners who want broader and more consistent alt text coverage without rewriting stored Media Library metadata. It adds alt text dynamically to images in the rendered frontend HTML, using contextual information already available in WordPress.
The Pro edition is designed for larger or more complex WordPress sites, including WooCommerce stores and websites built around custom post types. Generated values are reversible: disabling the plugin removes the injected frontend alt text, while the existing Media Library fields remain unchanged.
Flexible Sources for Alt Text
Bialty Pro applies a deterministic rule when a page is rendered. Depending on the selected configuration, the rule can use information from your content and SEO setup.
- Focus keywords from Yoast SEO or Rank Math
- Target keywords from SEOPress
- Primary keyphrases from All in One SEO
- Post titles and WooCommerce product titles
- Cleaned image filenames
- Combined values, such as a keyword with a title
- Manual alt text overrides set for posts, pages, or products
This approach can help standardize alt text logic across a site, add values where alt text is missing, or replace existing frontend alt text according to a defined rule. Manual overrides remain useful when a particular image needs more specific editorial or accessibility-focused wording.
WooCommerce and Custom Content
Pro adds support for custom post types and WooCommerce content. Store owners can extend the same rule-based workflow to product pages, product galleries, and related product areas. Product-level manual overrides provide a way to set more precise text for individual products when general rules are not sufficient.
Additional Pro controls include blacklist and exclusion rules, broader rule combinations, and the option to add the site title. These settings help agencies, stores, and content teams apply a consistent approach while excluding images or areas that should not receive generated values.
Dynamic Frontend Processing
Bialty Pro does not perform visual image analysis, create captions through computer vision, or call an external AI API. It also does not permanently write generated values into the database. Instead, it processes local WordPress context as the page is rendered, without bulk rewrite jobs or an external API dependency.
The plugin works through the standard WordPress frontend rendering pipeline. Documented editors and builders include Gutenberg, the Classic Editor with TinyMCE, Elementor, and SiteOrigin Page Builder. If a theme, widget, builder, or template bypasses the supported rendering flow, its images may not be affected. Beaver Builder edit mode is disabled to avoid conflicts.
How to Check the Result
After configuring a rule, view a page on the frontend and inspect the image element in the rendered HTML. The configured alt attribute should appear there. An empty or unchanged alt field in the Media Library is expected because Bialty Pro does not rewrite stored metadata.
Installation and Setup
Install and activate Bialty Pro on the WordPress site, then choose the rule sources and Pro options that match your content model. Configure WooCommerce, custom post type, exclusion, and manual override settings as needed. Review the rendered frontend HTML to confirm that the selected rule is being applied.
