Contextual menus for WordPress sites
Advanced Sidebar Menu Pro builds menus from the parent and child relationships already defined in WordPress. As visitors move through a site, the menu can change according to the current page, post, or category, showing related items instead of requiring a manually maintained custom menu.
The Pro edition adds navigation menu support, expanded styling controls, accordion layouts, and options for custom post types and custom taxonomies. This makes it useful for sites with structured pages, category archives, navigation menus, and related content organized into levels.
Flexible display locations
Menus can be placed where WordPress supports blocks, including page or post content, widget areas, the Theme Customizer, and the Site Editor. The plugin provides Gutenberg blocks for pages, categories, and navigation menus. Widgets are also available for page builders and sites using classic widgets, including Elementor and Beaver Builder.
The page and category menus can be generated from the current section of the site. Depending on the selected settings, a menu may show the current item, its parent, child items, grandparent, grandchild, or first-level related children.
Pro styling and accordion controls
Advanced Sidebar Menu Pro provides click-and-drag styling controls for page, category, and navigation menus. Link styling can include color, background color, size, hover appearance, and font weight. Separate styling options are available for different link levels, the current page or category, and the parent of the current page or category.
Additional blocked styling options include borders, border width, and border colors. You can choose from seven bullet styles or remove bullets altogether. Accordion support is available for pages, categories, and navigation menus, with controls for accordion icon style and color, whether sections remain closed until clicked, whether the highest-level parent is included, and whether links are used to open and close sections.
Menu structure and content controls
- Customize the text used for page, category, and navigation menu item links.
- Exclude a page from all menus with a checkbox.
- Set the number of page levels shown when always displaying child pages is not enabled.
- Choose ordering for category menus.
- Select and display custom post types and custom taxonomies.
- Control whether the highest-level parent or a menu containing only that parent is displayed.
- Choose whether child pages or categories are always displayed and select their levels.
Category menus can also be displayed on single post pages based on the categories assigned to the current post. You can choose whether each single post category appears in a new widget or block or within the same list.
Installation and setup
Install Advanced Sidebar Menu Pro in WordPress, then add the appropriate page, category, or navigation menu block or widget to a supported location. Select the content relationships, display levels, ordering, exclusions, styling, or accordion settings needed for the site structure. The menu is then generated according to the current page, post, or category and the selected options.
