Google Tag Manager and GA4 integration
GTM Kit Premium is a WordPress plugin for placing a Google Tag Manager container on your website without editing code. It generates a flexible data layer for Google Tag Manager and can pass information from WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, and Contact Form 7 to Google Analytics 4, Facebook, and other GTM tags.
The settings are arranged around practical tasks: Setup, Events & data layer, Commerce, Consent & privacy, and Tools. This structure keeps related options together while leaving room for developer customization when a project requires it.
Commerce events for measurement
For WooCommerce, the Premium edition automatically includes a broad set of GA4 events in the data layer. These cover product discovery, cart activity, checkout, payments, orders, refunds, and subscriptions.
- Product and cart activity: view_item_list, select_item, view_item, add_to_wishlist, add_to_cart, view_cart, and remove_from_cart.
- Checkout activity: begin_checkout, add_shipping_info, and add_payment_info.
- Order activity: purchase, refund, order_paid, order_processing, order_completed, order_refunded, and subscription_started.
Easy Digital Downloads includes view_item, add_to_cart, begin_checkout, and purchase events. These events provide a structured starting point for configuring GA4, advertising, and other tags through Google Tag Manager.
Tracking checks and site diagnostics
GTM Kit Premium helps identify tracking problems that may otherwise remain unnoticed. Once a day, it checks one of your own pages as a visitor would receive it. It reports when no container is loading, when tracking appears twice, and, where recognized, which plugin or tool added the second copy.
WordPress Site Health can report directly on GTM Kit. Its checks cover container setup and delivery, consent configuration, whether settings can be saved, and whether a Google tag served from your own domain is still working. The Info tab presents the complete configuration on one screen and can copy it into a support request with one click.
Staging controls and container delivery
On sites identified by WordPress as staging, development, or local environments, GTM Kit leaves the container out so test traffic does not reach a live analytics property. The data layer continues to be built, and a setting allows the container to load when you intentionally measure a test site.
The plugin can serve the Google tag from your own domain. Before enabling this option, it checks whether the server can reach Google and whether the serving address is reachable. The checks repeat daily. If a check fails, GTM Kit returns to standard container loading and tells you. This option is off by default and is separate from using a custom server-side GTM container domain.
Flexible implementation
You can delay container-script loading until the browser is idle when that suits your page-speed approach. You can also enter a custom domain when using a custom server-side GTM container.
Installation
Install GTM Kit Premium through the WordPress plugin installation workflow, then open its settings and complete the Setup section. Add the container details, review Events & data layer, Commerce, Consent & privacy, and Tools, and confirm the configuration through the available diagnostics.
