Keep a detailed record of WordPress activity
WP Activity Log Premium and WP Activity Log Enterprise provide advanced editions of WP Activity Log for administrators and security professionals who need clearer visibility into changes across WordPress sites and multisite networks. The plugin records what happened, when it happened, and which user made the change, helping with troubleshooting, user management, accountability, and compliance work.
Recorded details can include the date and time, the user and role, the source IP address, and the object affected. The activity log can track changes to posts, pages, custom post types, categories, tags, widgets, menus, users, profiles, WordPress settings, plugins, themes, files, and database tables. It also records logins, logouts, failed login attempts, and the termination of other sessions.
Advanced monitoring and reporting
- Real-time user visibility: See who is logged in and monitor current activity.
- Session management: Log off a user directly from the activity interface.
- Configurable reports: Generate HTML and CSV reports for analysis and record keeping.
- Search and filtering: Narrow results to find relevant activity more quickly.
- Alerts: Configure email, SMS, and Slack notifications for important changes.
- Activity notes: Add internal context or documentation to log entries.
- Archiving: Move older activity data to another database for storage and log management.
Log storage and mirroring
WP Activity Log stores activity in the WordPress database by default. The Enterprise edition adds the option to save the activity log to an external database. It also supports real-time mirroring to log management and monitoring services such as AWS CloudWatch, Loggly, Papertrail, and Syslog, as well as other SIEM systems. Logs can also be mirrored to Slack or copied to a log file on the web server.
These capabilities are useful when a site needs activity data outside the main WordPress database, when teams review events in a central monitoring system, or when administrators want an additional copy of the log for operational management.
Support for WordPress and third-party changes
The plugin can track activity from supported third-party tools, including WooCommerce, Advanced Custom Fields, bbPress, Gravity Forms, LearnDash, MemberPress, MainWP, ManageWP, Paid Memberships Pro, RankMath, and other listed management and membership plugins. Supported events may include settings changes, content changes, orders, memberships, payments, subscriptions, forms, courses, and related user actions.
Activity data can be retained indefinitely. The default retention period is three months, and retention policies can be changed during configuration or from the plugin settings.
