Place widgets where your content needs them
Widgets on Pages Pro is a paid edition of Widgets on Pages for adding widgets to WordPress posts, pages, and custom post types. It lets you create unlimited dynamic sidebars, also called Turbo Sidebars, and use them as dedicated widget containers. Each sidebar can be called independently, and more than one can be used in a single post or page.
The Pro edition adds a visual-editor wizard so widgets can be inserted with clicks rather than by manually writing shortcode. This provides a practical workflow for editors who want to place widget areas inside content while keeping the sidebar setup managed separately.
Create and reuse Turbo Sidebars
Start by creating a Turbo Sidebar from the plugin settings. Add widgets to it in the same way you add widgets to a normal sidebar, then choose where the sidebar should appear. A sidebar can be reused across multiple posts and pages, which is useful when the same content block needs to be maintained in one place.
For shortcode-based placement, a sidebar can be called with the format [widgets_on_pages id=x], where x represents the sidebar name. The plugin also supports adding sidebars to a theme through template tags, allowing widget areas to be used in a theme’s header, footer, or another theme location.
Use responsive layouts and automatic insertion
Widgets on Pages Pro includes responsive horizontal, column, and grid layout options. These settings help arrange several widgets in a structured presentation rather than displaying every item in a single vertical column.
The Pro version can also automatically add widgets to posts and pages. You can choose whether the sidebar and its widgets appear before or after the content, or use the available header, content, and footer insertion positions. This is useful for recurring elements such as lists of related posts at the end of every article.
Automatic insertion does not have to apply everywhere. Each post and page can be individually excluded, giving you a way to keep general placement rules while removing the widget area from selected content.
Practical workflows
- Create separate Turbo Sidebars for related posts, notices, navigation, or other reusable widget groups.
- Insert one or more widget areas into individual posts, pages, or custom post types.
- Use the visual-editor button to place a sidebar without manually entering shortcode.
- Choose a horizontal, column, or grid layout for a responsive presentation.
- Automatically add widgets before or after content, or in a header or footer location.
The plugin is described as working with all widgets and themes, and sidebars can also be added through theme template tags when a theme-level placement is needed.
Installation and setup
Add Widgets on Pages to your WordPress site, then open its settings and create a Turbo Sidebar. Add the widgets you want to display, choose a layout or insertion position, and use the visual editor’s Add Turbo Sidebar button to place it in content. Alternatively, use the sidebar shortcode or theme template tags.
