Bring Vimeo content into WordPress
Vimeotheque PRO is a paid edition of the Vimeotheque Vimeo WordPress plugin for importing, embedding, and organizing video content. It connects Vimeo collections and searches with WordPress content, helping you build video libraries, lesson areas, portfolios, showcases, and magazine-style video sections.
The plugin can create complete WordPress posts from Vimeo videos, including the title, description, thumbnail, and embedded player. Content can use the dedicated vimeo-video post type or, with PRO, be imported as regular WordPress posts. This gives you more flexibility when working with existing themes, archives, and editorial workflows.
PRO importing and synchronization
Vimeotheque PRO adds automatic bulk imports for scheduled, hands-off synchronization. Instead of repeatedly importing collections manually, you can use scheduled syncing for sources such as Vimeo channels, showcases, portfolios, folders, user uploads, groups, or Vimeo search results.
PRO also supports importing private or hidden Vimeo videos, subject to Vimeo privacy settings and API permissions. This can be useful for membership sites, online courses, or internal video libraries where the Vimeo content is not publicly available.
For each imported video, the plugin can use the Vimeo thumbnail as the WordPress featured image. Imported content can then be managed alongside other WordPress posts and displayed through your site’s content structure.
Blocks, playlists, and embeds
Vimeotheque includes native Gutenberg blocks for common video layouts. The Video Position block places a player inside single video posts, while the Single Video block embeds a specific Vimeo video anywhere. The Playlist block builds playlists from imported videos.
A Classic Editor shortcode is also included. The output works inside Elementor sections, columns, and templates, making it practical for custom landing pages, course layouts, portfolios, and other page-builder designs.
The plugin uses the Vimeo HTML5 player and includes lazy-load options. Its one-video-at-a-time playback behavior helps avoid conflicts when several videos appear on one page. A no-tracking embed parameter is available for player output where you want to avoid cookies and statistics.
Practical use cases
- Membership and LMS sites: Embed lessons and use a separate membership or LMS plugin to restrict access.
- Portfolios and showcases: Synchronize a Vimeo showcase or portfolio with WordPress content.
- Video libraries: Organize imported videos into playlists and display them with Gutenberg or shortcodes.
- Blogs and magazines: Import videos as posts and surface them in archives and widgets.
Templates and design control
An optional template system provides additional control over presentation. You can enable the plugin’s templates or override them in your theme to shape the appearance of imported videos and related layouts.
Installation and authentication
Install Vimeotheque PRO in WordPress, then create a free Vimeo account and a Vimeo App. Enter the required credentials under Settings → Vimeo authentication to enable importing. After authentication, choose a Vimeo source, configure the import or scheduled synchronization workflow, and place videos using blocks, shortcodes, Elementor layouts, or WordPress posts. Documentation and a knowledge base are available, and PRO users receive priority support.
