Configure Cash on Delivery around your store’s rules
Smart COD PRO is a separate paid plugin for WooCommerce that extends the Cash on Delivery payment gateway. It is designed for stores that need more control than a single COD availability setting or one standard fee can provide. You can use it to shape when COD appears, how much it costs, and which customer, order, shipping, or product conditions affect its availability.
The PRO edition adds advance-payment COD, multiple conditional extra fees, CSV restriction imports, and a broader set of rules for cart amounts, product quantities, customer roles, stock, backorders, and coupons. These controls support stores with different delivery areas, payment policies, customer groups, and order requirements.
Apply conditional COD availability
Restrictions can be enabled or disabled. When enabled, a rule can allow Cash on Delivery only for specified selections. When disabled, it can make COD unavailable for those selections. This gives you a practical way to define either permitted conditions or excluded conditions for the payment method.
Available restriction areas include shipping zones, shipping methods inside shipping zones, countries, states, postal codes, cities, user roles, products in the cart, product categories, and shipping classes. Postal code conditions support ranges, while product conditions support variations. You can also create informational messages shown before the payment methods when COD is unavailable, with different messages for different restriction reasons.
Set flexible extra fees
Smart COD PRO supports a standard extra fee and a separate fee for local pickup. Fees can use a fixed price or a percentage of the customer’s cart amount. A rounding option helps control the resulting fee, and tax can be enabled for the fee.
PRO adds conditional extra-fee scenarios based on country, shipping zone, shipping method, cart-amount thresholds, and order-pay handling. This can help you apply different COD charges according to the delivery route, order value, or checkout situation instead of using one fee for every order.
Use advanced order and customer rules
- Offer advance-payment COD options.
- Import restrictions from CSV files.
- Use cart amount and product quantity conditions.
- Apply rules based on customer role.
- Consider product stock and backorder status.
- Use coupon conditions when controlling COD availability.
- Combine product, category, shipping, location, and customer criteria in the store’s COD workflow.
These options are useful for businesses that want to limit COD for particular products, locations, order sizes, customer groups, or fulfillment situations. The result is a payment method that can reflect the store’s operational policies more closely.
WooCommerce integration
Smart COD extends the existing WooCommerce Cash on Delivery gateway, so the plugin works with that gateway rather than requiring separate manual gateway management. It also provides developer filters for altering the extra fee, changing the current COD restriction, and changing the COD fee title: wc_smart_cod_fee, wc_smart_cod_available, and wc_smart_cod_fee_title.
Installation and setup
Install the separate Smart COD PRO plugin in WordPress alongside WooCommerce and configure its Cash on Delivery settings. Define restrictions, messages, fees, and PRO conditions, then review the checkout behavior for the shipping, customer, product, and order scenarios used by your store.
