Improve WordPress content while you write
Semrush Pro connects the SEO Writing Assistant with WordPress so writers and editors can assess and refine content directly in the WordPress editing workflow. The smart editor provides recommendations and improvements in real time, using readability and SEO guidance based on best-performing content in Google’s search results.
It is intended for content teams, site owners, and individual writers who want to review copy before publication. Whether you are creating new text or editing someone else’s work, the assistant brings several content-quality checks together in one place.
Writing and optimization checks
- Readability: Use the Flesch-Kincaid score to assess how easy the text is to read and identify opportunities to improve it.
- Recommended keywords: Receive semantically related keyword suggestions that may help strengthen search visibility.
- Tone of voice: Check whether the writing remains smooth and consistent in tone.
- Plagiarism check: Verify whether submitted writing is original and help avoid potential penalization.
- Rephraser: Rework selected passages to improve quality, adapt content for different channels, or move past writer’s block.
- Overall score: Review the content’s SEO potential using key on-page factors.
A practical WordPress workflow
Start by opening the page or post you want to optimize. Connect an SEO Content Template, specify the target keywords, and use the assistant’s recommendations while writing or editing. The tool can then help you review readability, related terms, tone, originality, and on-page SEO considerations before the content is finalized.
Semrush Pro is used with a Semrush account. The available source information states that a Free or Pro Semrush account can create one recommendation set tied to a document for a lifetime. Higher-tier accounts have different keyword budgets and access to the Semrush Content Marketing Platform.
Installation
Download the plugin as a ZIP file, sign in to the WordPress administration area, open Plugins, and select Add New. Choose Upload Plugin, select the ZIP file, install it, and activate it from the installed plugins list if activation does not occur automatically.
After installation, open the page or post you want to improve and select Connect SEO Content Template. You will need to be logged in to your Semrush account to use the writing recommendations.
Technical considerations
The plugin uses third-party code provided by the Semrush SEO Writing Assistant tool. To analyze text, it sends that text to the Semrush API, where it may also be stored for statistical analysis. Telemetry data is collected through Google Analytics. Review the Semrush Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions for related information.
