Back up, restore, and move WordPress sites
Royal Backup PRO is a WordPress backup, restore, and migration plugin for protecting site files and database content. It supports complete website backups, scheduled backup routines, migration between environments, cloud storage, and database reset workflows. The plugin is designed for site owners who want to create backup points before changes and manage those backups from a single interface.
A backup can include the WordPress database, plugins, themes, uploads, and WordPress core files. The PRO edition adds backup coverage for core WordPress files, including wp-admin, wp-includes, and essential root files such as wp-config.php and .htaccess. This provides a way to retain those files alongside the rest of the site backup.
Scheduled and cloud-based backups
PRO lets you schedule backups to run every hour, every 12 hours, daily, weekly, once every two weeks, or monthly. File and database schedules can be configured separately, allowing the backup routine to match the way a site changes.
Backups can be stored in Google Drive, Dropbox, and Amazon S3 through one-click configuration. The plugin also supports saving backups in multiple locations simultaneously, including the WordPress site and cloud storage. By default, local backups are stored in the wp-content/royal-backup-reset/ directory, which is protected with .htaccess rules against direct web access.
Migration and restore workflows
The migration feature supports cloning, copying, or moving a website from a staging website to a live website. Royal Backup PRO provides migration without file-size limits and can migrate websites from remote storage services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and Amazon S3. This can be useful when preparing a live launch, moving a site between environments, or keeping a working copy aligned with another installation.
From the backup management interface, you can view, download, restore, and delete saved backups. Backup component downloads allow individual components such as the database, plugins, or themes to be downloaded separately. Restore operations can be started from the Restore Site tab by selecting a saved website backup and pressing the Restore button.
Backup reminders and database reset
The plugin includes a backup reminder before activating or updating themes or plugins and before installing new ones. This places a backup step directly into routine WordPress maintenance. Background processing and progress tracking allow backup and restore activity to continue while the browser window is refreshed or closed, with real-time progress updates available during the operation.
The database reset tool can return WordPress to a fresh state without reinstalling WordPress. It deletes content and settings while preserving the current user account. Because reset removes site data, create a backup before using this workflow.
Installation and first backup
Install and activate Royal Backup PRO, open the backup area, and start the backup process. Configure local or cloud destinations, choose schedules where needed, and review the available backups through the management interface. Before updates, migrations, or database resets, create a current backup that includes the components required for the task.
