Subscription access for paid WordPress content
codoc Reader Plans is designed for creators who want to offer subscription or membership access to selected article content from WordPress. The plugin adds a codoc block to the post editor, allowing you to define where free content ends and the paid section begins. Text placed above the block remains available to visitors, while content below it is hidden from non-buyers.
The Reader Plans experience can be used alongside codoc’s article paywall features, one-time purchases, and tipping support. This gives creators a practical way to organize different access options around written content, whether they publish individual paid articles, recurring reader access, or a combination of both.
How Reader Plans work
After setup, the codoc block displays the purchase interface and handles buyer authentication. Per-article settings can control pricing and whether Reader Plan availability is offered. Readers can authenticate through the purchase interface, while creators can preview an article as a buyer by selecting “Sign in to restore purchase” and authenticating with a codoc account. Logging out allows the article to be viewed as a non-buyer.
Payment processing is handled through Stripe. Supported payment options listed for the plugin include credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Konbini. Transactions can be processed in JPY, USD, or EUR, and users outside the creator’s supported country can purchase with a valid credit card.
Publishing and account management
Revenue and customer management are available through codoc.jp. Article content is stored on both WordPress and codoc. Publication status is synchronized: when a WordPress article is published, it is published on codoc, and when the WordPress article is not published, it remains unpublished there. If the WordPress article is deleted, its codoc content becomes unpublished.

Editor and presentation options
codoc supports both Gutenberg and the Classic Editor with TinyMCE. In the Classic Editor, a codoc button is added to the toolbar after integration. Creators can also insert custom HTML before or after codoc tags and specify a custom CSS file in Settings → codoc for design adjustments. Permalinks are retrieved through get_permalink(), with replacement settings available for reverse proxies or special routing.
Installation and setup
Install and activate codoc, connect it according to the codoc setup process, and open a WordPress post in Gutenberg or the Classic Editor. Add the codoc block or use the Classic Editor button, place the content you want to protect below it, and configure the article’s price or Reader Plan availability. Publish the post and manage revenue and customer information through codoc.jp.
Creators must reside in Japan, the United States, or the EU and have a bank account in the relevant country. Reader access can be purchased by users worldwide with a valid credit card.
