Organize and publish document libraries
FileBird Document Library Pro helps you turn folders in the WordPress Media Library into structured document galleries. Using FileBird folders as document categories, you can present files on the frontend in a clean, navigable library rather than listing individual attachments manually.
The plugin works with document files hosted in WordPress, including PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, PPS, PPSX, ODT, XLS, XLSX, PSD, SVG, CAD, DWG, Apple document formats such as .numbers and .pages, and ebook formats including .prc, .epub, .mobi, .azw, and .djvu.
Folder-based frontend navigation
The Pro edition adds a visible folder directory for visitors. You can show multi-level folders in a folder tree, use breadcrumb navigation, and display nested folders to help visitors move through larger collections. A sidebar folder tree provides another way to browse the library, while customizable search scope helps control where visitors search.
Folder organization remains connected to the displayed library. When documents are moved, removed, or added in FileBird folders, the document gallery reflects those folder changes. This makes the setup practical for collections that are updated over time.
Pro directory features
- Show multi-level folders in the frontend folder tree.
- Add breadcrumbs and nested folders for clearer navigation.
- Use sidebar folder tree navigation.
- Customize the search scope.
- Display extra metadata columns, including YouTube and external links.
- Use custom folder icons.
Flexible library presentation
Build document galleries with Gutenberg and choose between grid and list layouts. The interface supports a single folder or multiple folders, with options for a folder icon, custom title, and a limit on document items per page. Visitors can switch between library sections on the frontend.
Sorting options include document name, modified date, and file size. You can also provide attachment links and a download button, giving visitors direct ways to access the files in your collection.
Practical use cases
Use the plugin for manuals, downloadable resources, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, ebooks, design files, or other documents stored in the WordPress Media Library. FileBird folders can separate collections by department, topic, project, year, or another structure that suits your site.
Installation and requirements
FileBird Document Library Pro requires the FileBird plugin, either Free or Pro, at version 5.0 or higher for folder management and organization. Install and activate FileBird before using the document library Gutenberg block feature.
Gutenberg is optional and can be used to create and edit document galleries. A WordPress page builder with shortcode support is also optional for flexible integration. The Pro edition is useful when you need multiple libraries for different pages through page builders, alongside frontend folder directories and advanced navigation.
