Flexible Disqus comment loading
Disqus Conditional Load Pro is an advanced WordPress plugin for sites using Disqus comments. It helps control when Disqus content and related scripts load, giving site owners more options for presenting discussions without requiring jQuery. The plugin uses JavaScript and builds on the comment-loading, shortcode, widget, and script controls available in Disqus Conditional Load.
DCL Pro is suited to blogs, content sites, custom post type projects, WooCommerce stores, and Easy Digital Downloads websites that want more control over comment placement and loading behavior.
Loading options for different devices
Pro adds an On Scroll Start lazy-loading option for loading Disqus when visitors begin scrolling. It also provides separate loading options for mobile and desktop, allowing the comment experience to be adjusted for different device contexts.
Depending on the selected configuration, Disqus comments can be loaded normally, on scroll, when scrolling starts, or after a visitor clicks. You can also prevent automatic loading and use a custom comment button class. These controls make it possible to choose a comment workflow that fits the layout of each site.
WooCommerce and download products
DCL Pro includes WooCommerce support without breaking the review tab and support for Easy Digital Downloads. These integrations allow sites using product or download-focused workflows to add Disqus functionality while retaining the relevant page structure.
Buttons, widgets, and placement
The Pro version can display a comment count on a button and provide Disqus Comments as a widget. It also includes a Disqus Popular Comments widget and built-in button styles. These options give site owners several ways to invite visitors into discussions or display popular conversations.
Shortcodes can be used to place Disqus comments where required. The shortcode approach is useful when comments need to appear in a specific position within a post or page rather than relying only on automatic placement. Custom post types are supported, and the Disqus container width can be adjusted.
Script and custom post type controls
DCL Pro lets you disable the count.js script when it is not needed and remove Disqus scripts from selected custom post types. These settings can help keep comment-related behavior limited to the areas where it is required. The plugin also supports disabling automatic Disqus loading and controlling comment counts independently.
Related Disqus capabilities
The plugin supports importing existing comments and auto-syncing comments with the Disqus and WordPress databases. Disqus features referenced with the plugin include threaded comments and replies, notifications and reply by email, subscribe and RSS options, aggregated comments and social mentions, moderation and administration tools, spam filtering, blacklists and whitelists, and community widgets.
Installation
Install Disqus Conditional Load in WordPress, then install the Pro version. Connect the site with Disqus and open the plugin settings. Select the desired loading method, configure mobile and desktop behavior, choose widget or button options, and use the shortcode where comments should appear. Priority support is available over email for Pro users.
