WordPress caching for faster content delivery
Comet Cache Pro creates real-time snapshots of WordPress pages, posts, categories, links, archives, and other supported content. These cached files can be referenced later instead of repeating the same database connections and PHP processing for every request. The result is a caching workflow designed to reduce repeated server work while keeping control in the WordPress dashboard.
The plugin uses configuration options selected from its options panel. After caching is enabled, Comet Cache recognizes when a cached version should or should not be served. By default, it does not serve cached pages to logged-in users or visitors who have recently left comments. Administrative pages, login pages, selected request types, and CLI processes are also excluded.
Pro controls for cache management
- Cache logged-in users, a useful option for membership sites.
- Use an improved admin-bar Clear Cache button and choose whether it is enabled.
- Configure automatic and intelligent clearing for posts, pages, custom post types, categories, tags, links, themes, users, and more.
- Automatically clear a list of custom URLs.
- Run custom PHP code whenever the cache is cleared.
- Give specified roles or capabilities permission to clear the cache.
- Import and export Comet Cache configuration files.
- Customize the caching engine with a dynamic version salt.
Monitoring, compatibility, and server options
Cache Statistics provide insight into the status of the site cache. Pro also includes statistics and charts covering the page cache, HTML Compressor cache, PHP OPCache, and server health. Server Load Monitoring can prevent cache regeneration while the server is very busy by using a maximum server-load average.
Apache optimizations can enable web-server GZIP compression, leverage browser caching, enforce canonical URLs, and provide other listed server adjustments. Additional capabilities include client-side caching, an automatic cache expiration time, caching for 404 requests, RSS, RDF, and Atom feed caching, query-string URL controls, and URI, user-agent, and HTTP referrer exclusion patterns with wildcard support.
For broader site setups, Pro includes Mobile Mode for multiple cache versions, Multisite Host Exclusion Patterns for selected child blogs, WP-CLI compatibility, compatibility with ManageWP and InfiniteWP, and an advanced cache-plugin system for theme and plugin developers. An automatic updater can update Comet Cache Pro from the WordPress dashboard.
