Manage WordPress functionality as snippets
Code Snippets Pro provides a graphical way to add and manage small pieces of functionality on a WordPress site. Instead of placing code directly in your theme’s functions.php file or installing a separate plugin for every adjustment, you can keep snippets together in one dedicated interface.
A snippet works like a mini-plugin: it can add functionality while remaining separate from your theme. This makes the collection of code easier to manage when you need to activate, deactivate, review, or organise individual additions. The interface is designed to make snippet management similar to activating and deactivating plugins, without the clutter of repeatedly editing theme files.
Supported Pro integrations
Code Snippets Pro extends the snippet experience with complete integrations for several common WordPress workflows. The paid edition supports:
- CSS snippets for managing custom styling code.
- JavaScript snippets for handling JavaScript additions.
- Gutenberg integration for working with the block editor.
- Elementor integration for sites using the Elementor builder.
- Cloud synchronisation through the community-powered Code Snippets Cloud platform.
The cloud connection also provides access to hundreds of tweaks and enhancements available through Code Snippets Cloud. This gives you a convenient starting point when looking for additions to use on a WordPress site.
Practical snippet workflows
Use the interface to keep related code in separate snippets rather than combining every change in one theme file. You can activate only the snippets needed for a particular site and deactivate them when testing or troubleshooting. The snippets are stored in the WordPress database, so they remain independent of the active theme and are not affected by WordPress upgrades.
Code Snippets also supports moving your work between sites. Individual snippets can be exported from the Manage Snippets screen, while bulk actions let you export multiple snippets. Exported snippets can later be imported through the Import Snippets page. If you need the code without using the plugin on another site, snippets can also be exported to PHP, including their code, names, and descriptions in comments.
For troubleshooting, safe mode can be enabled to help recover a site affected by a buggy snippet. If you need to remove the plugin completely, the Complete Uninstall option cleans stored data when the plugin is deleted through the WordPress Plugins menu. Export snippets first if you want to preserve them.
Installation and setup
Install and activate Code Snippets Pro in WordPress, then open its snippet management interface. Add a snippet, enter the relevant code and description, and use the available controls to manage it. For supported CSS, JavaScript, Gutenberg, Elementor, and cloud workflows, configure the relevant integration from the plugin’s available settings and screens.
Review each snippet before activation, particularly when adding custom code. The result is a central workspace for managing site enhancements without repeatedly changing the theme’s functions.php file.
