WordPress file management and editing in one workspace
WPIDE Pro is a paid edition of WPIDE – File Manager & Code Editor for managing files, editing code, and working with selected WordPress configuration, image, and database tasks from within WordPress. It extends the plugin’s file manager and advanced editor with tools designed for more controlled, practical site maintenance.
The file manager provides a tree browser, a smart context menu, customizable root path, deep search, folder-size calculation, and support for creating, copying, moving, duplicating, previewing, downloading, uploading, archiving, and deleting files or directories. Batch support is available for downloads, uploads, and zip or unzip operations. Drag-and-drop uploading is also supported.
Paid editing features
WPIDE Pro adds an Auto Save Feature that periodically saves work to a draft file at an interval you choose. The original file is not affected by the autosave. If the editing page is closed before a manual save, the saved draft can be used for recovery.
The Auto Saved Quick Diff viewer lets you compare the autosaved version with the current file. You can then choose whether to restore from the autosaved file or keep the current version. A full-screen editor toggle provides additional editing space, which can be useful on smaller screens.
When File Manager Advanced Mode is enabled, all files and folders are available for editing, including WordPress core files and wp-config.php. This provides a broader working area for users who need to inspect or modify files beyond the usual plugin and theme locations.
Configuration, media, and database tools
The Config Manager displays the constants defined in wp-config.php. It can add, update, or remove constants and helps prevent duplicated constants.
The Advanced Image Editor supports resizing and cropping images, applying filters, adding frames or corners, and placing text, stickers, patterns, or gradients. The Database Manager can view tables, create new tables, add, update, or delete rows, update table structure, and update column indexes. The source also identifies safe editing as enabled within the database feature set.
Editor workflow
WPIDE includes line numbers, find and replace, syntax highlighting, matching-parenthesis highlighting, automatic indentation, code folding, keyboard commands, and a tabbed interface for editing multiple files. WordPress and PHP code auto-completion, PHP parsing and validation, PHP backups before saving, and a File Recovery Wizard support a more deliberate editing process. The plugin uses the WordPress filesystem API and also includes an image gallery and video or audio media player.
Installation and practical use
Install WPIDE in WordPress and open its file management and code editing workspace. Begin with the file tree or search to locate a file, then use tabs to work across multiple files. For important edits, allow the autosave draft to provide a comparison and recovery point. Use Advanced Mode, the Config Manager, image tools, or database tools only when those tasks are required, and review changes carefully before applying them.
