Build a more complete maintenance page
Maintenance Page Pro extends the Maintenance Page plugin for WordPress sites that are temporarily unavailable, being upgraded, or still in development. It provides additional tools for presenting a polished visitor-facing page while work takes place behind the scenes.
The base plugin includes a responsive maintenance layout with options for a logo, background image or color, social icons, font color, title, text message, subscriber collection, custom CSS, and page exclusions. Visitors can see a dedicated message instead of the site’s regular content, while site owners can customize the appearance and information shown.
Pro features and options
- Counter: add a countdown-style counter to the maintenance presentation.
- Contact Form: provide a way for visitors to send a message from the page.
- MailChimp integration: connect the subscriber feature with MailChimp.
- IP Whitelist: control access by allowing specified IP addresses.
- Background Slider: present multiple background images in a slider.
- Background Video: use video as part of the page background.
- Progress Bar: show progress information during ongoing work.
- Google font option: select from the available Google font setting.
- Analytic Code Option: add analytic code to the maintenance page.
- Role Based access: manage access according to user roles.
- Font size option: adjust the size of page text.
- About Page: provide an additional page for relevant information.
Useful maintenance workflows
Use the plugin when a site is undergoing an upgrade, when development is in progress, or when visitors need a clear explanation for temporary downtime. A logo, title, text message, social icons, and a background image or color can establish the basic presentation. Pro options can then add a counter, progress bar, contact form, subscriber collection, or MailChimp connection according to the site’s needs.
For a more visual page, combine the background slider or background video with font and color settings. If the site should remain accessible to selected visitors or administrators, the IP whitelist and role-based access options provide additional control over who can view the maintenance presentation.
Installation and activation
Install and activate Maintenance Page, then open Settings → Maintenance Page → General and check Activate the Maintenance Page. Configure the available page options, including branding, background, message, social icons, subscriber field, and any Pro settings required for the project.
If changes are not visible, check the page in another browser while logged out. When caching plugins are present, purge the cache or deactivate caching temporarily while testing activation and design changes.
