Flexible WordPress data importing
Import WP Pro extends Import WP – CSV & XML Import Export for WordPress for sites that need more than standard posts, pages, users, and attachments. It provides a visual way to connect CSV columns or XML nodes with WordPress data, without requiring a fixed file layout. Pro adds support for custom fields, custom post types, custom taxonomies, scheduled importers, and premium support.
The plugin can work with files from a local upload, a remote URL, an FTP server, a published or downloadable Google Sheet, a data feed, or a file already stored on your web server. This makes it suitable for one-time migrations as well as recurring updates from external sources.
Import custom WordPress content
Use the visual selector to map source data to the fields used by your WordPress installation. Pro lets you import into custom fields, custom post types, and custom taxonomies, helping you bring structured content into sites that use tailored content models.
- Import CSV or XML data from multiple source locations.
- Map columns, XML nodes, or XML attributes to WordPress fields.
- Use unique identifiers to match records for insert or update operations.
- Choose whether an import can insert, update, or delete records.
- Review import history and logs after each run.
- Schedule importers for recurring data updates.
For XML files, you can define the document base path so the importer knows what counts as one record. XPath can also be used when needed. CSV settings include the delimiter, enclosure, and character encoding.
Media, WooCommerce, and integrations
Import WP also supports attachments and media from CSV or XML sources. Images and other attachments can be loaded from remote URLs, FTP, the local filesystem, or the WordPress media library. Existing media can be reused to avoid duplicates, and attachment title, caption, alternative text, and description can be mapped.
Free add-ons extend the workflow for WooCommerce, Yoast SEO, Rank Math SEO, Polylang, WPML, and BLM property feeds. The WooCommerce integration supports products, variations, images, attributes, categories, prices, and stock. Pro is required for the Advanced Custom Fields and JetEngine add-ons, which handle their respective data.
Export and migration workflows
The built-in exporter can create CSV, XML, or JSON files from WordPress data. Choose the fields to include, filter records, customize CSV headings, and define XML node or attribute names. Nested XML can be created for repeating data. Exports can include posts, pages, taxonomies, custom fields, images, attachments, terms, and related data.
