Custom accordion menus for WordPress
Iks Menu PRO is a paid edition of Iks Menu for creating customizable accordion menus and FAQs in WordPress. It can use custom WordPress menus, taxonomies such as categories and tags, WooCommerce product categories, and FAQ groups created with the plugin’s FAQ post type. Images are supported for menu sources, including WooCommerce category images and FAQ content.
The menu can be displayed through a WordPress widget, shortcode, or PHP code. A live editor provides instant changes without page reloads, allowing you to adjust the menu while reviewing its appearance. The editor is designed for visual configuration, so menu styling does not require coding.
What the PRO plan adds
Iks Menu PRO includes the features available in the FREE plan and adds controls for menu behavior, appearance, and content presentation. You can set an Initial Expansion state to open selected items when a page loads, and you can add expand-and-collapse animations to submenus.
- Display post counts in supported menu views.
- Use the Custom styles setting for additional styling control.
- Use parent elements as sub-menu toggles.
- Choose from more than 50 icons and more than five expansion animations.
- Access more than 20 skins, alongside the six skins available in the FREE plan.
The broader appearance settings let you customize colors, fonts, margins, padding, heights, and widths. You can also define styles for states such as hover, current, and children. Settings can be exported and imported for reuse, either as complete settings or as appearance settings.
Taxonomy and menu controls
When using a taxonomy as the menu source, PRO provides settings to control which terms appear and how they are arranged. You can hide empty terms, choose the ordering field, set ascending or descending order, and control hierarchical results. Include and exclude fields accept comma- or space-separated term IDs.
Additional taxonomy controls include search criteria, a parent or child term selection, and a childless option for limiting results to terms without children. These options are useful for building focused category navigation, product-category menus, and other taxonomy-based accordions.
Practical uses
- Create a sidebar category or product-category menu.
- Organize FAQ groups into expandable sections.
- Show posts beneath a taxonomy-based menu source.
- Use images to add visual context to menu entries.
- Reuse a configured design across menus through import and export.
Keyboard accessibility is supported through Tab and Enter navigation, with a focus state for menu elements.
Installation and setup
Add Iks Menu PRO to your WordPress installation, then open its menu editor. Select a custom menu, taxonomy, or FAQ group as the source, configure content and taxonomy settings where needed, and choose a skin or customize the appearance. Review changes in the live editor, then place the finished menu using a widget, shortcode, or PHP code.
