Browser-based media optimization for WordPress
Cimo Premium extends Cimo’s upload-time optimization workflow to media already stored on a WordPress site. It is designed for websites that want to manage image files, videos, and audio from the WordPress dashboard while processing files in the browser rather than relying on server-side processing.
During normal uploads, Cimo can optimize images before they are added to the Media Library. Image processing includes WebP conversion, adjustable WebP quality, maximum image dimensions, and controls for WordPress scaling and thumbnail generation. Premium adds tools for working with existing media and for handling additional upload workflows.
Premium capabilities
- Bulk optimization: optimize existing images, videos, and audio in the Media Library in one operation.
- Form-plugin media optimization: automatically optimize images, videos, and audio uploaded through popular form plugins, including Gravity Forms, WPForms, Ninja Forms, Formidable, and Fluent Forms.
- Smart Optimization: use algorithms that select compression settings for each image, reducing the need for manual adjustment.
- Video and audio optimization: optimize video and audio during upload, with options to downscale video resolution and adjust audio quality.
- Low Quality Image Placeholders: display a subtle placeholder for images used in native image blocks while the full image loads, then fade in the loaded image.
- Stealth Mode: hide Cimo branding and interface elements while the optimization features continue operating in the background.
Practical workflow
For new images, upload files through the WordPress Media Manager as usual. Cimo processes the image in the browser before the file reaches the Media Library, so the optimized result is the file saved to the site. Premium provides a separate way to address media that was uploaded previously: select existing files for bulk optimization from the Media Library.
The same upload-based approach can be used with supported form plugins. This is useful for sites where visitors or administrators submit media through forms rather than the standard Media Manager. Video and audio processing also takes place during upload, before those files are added to the Media Library.
Image settings are available under Settings > Cimo. The settings page includes WebP quality, maximum image dimensions, WordPress image scaling, thumbnail generation controls, and optimization statistics. A Recommended preset applies the documented settings of 80% WebP quality, a 1920px maximum image dimension, and disabled thumbnail generation.
Editor and plugin compatibility
Cimo is intended to work with the native WordPress Block Editor and major page builders and plugins. The documented integrations include Elementor, Divi, Breakdance, Bricks Builder, Oxygen, Beaver Builder, WPBakery, Stackable, Spectra, Kadence, Greenshift, GenerateBlocks, and WooCommerce. Divi support is partial because dropping files is not supported.
Installation and first setup
- Install and activate Cimo Premium in WordPress.
- Open Settings > Cimo and review the image, thumbnail, and scaling options.
- Use the Recommended preset or configure the settings manually.
- Upload new media normally, or use the Media Library bulk tools for existing files.
- Enable form-plugin processing, video and audio options, placeholders, or Stealth Mode as required.
Cimo works in modern Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera browsers. In Safari, images are optimized but retain their original format, and WebP conversion is not supported.
