Control how WordPress content is shared
Open Graphite Pro helps you manage the information shown when WordPress content is shared on social media. Instead of relying on each platform to select the first available image and text, you can customize the title, description, image, and object type used for a page or post preview.
The original page content remains unchanged. Open Graphite focuses on the sharing information associated with that content, giving you a separate workflow for preparing social previews across supported services.
Page-level and site-wide workflow
For the homepage, the plugin provides fields for a title, description, image, and object type. It can also accept a Facebook app ID, a Twitter username, and a selected Twitter card type. You can choose which post types are enabled.
For individual posts and pages, the Open Graphite metabox lets you enter the desired sharing title, description, image, and object type. You can either specify these values manually or configure the plugin to use an existing title, text or excerpt, and image automatically.
PRO features for broader content control
Open Graphite Pro extends the workflow to custom post types and adds support for WooCommerce products. It also includes options specific to Pinterest and enhanced Slack sharing, helping you adapt sharing data for different publishing and communication contexts.
When edits are made to a title, description, or featured image, Pro can force Facebook to update the information automatically and immediately. This is useful when a previously shared page continues to display older cached details.
Preview, defaults, and content checks
Before publishing or updating content, you can use mobile and desktop previews for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to review how the sharing information is presented. Automatic defaults can be enabled for titles, descriptions, featured images, and object types, reducing repetitive entry when existing content provides suitable values.
Open Graph content indicators help identify the sharing information in use. The plugin also includes an Open Graph check tool and options to limit the number of characters in titles and descriptions, helping prevent text from being truncated in social previews.
Managing compatibility and cached previews
If another plugin also inserts Open Graph tags, duplicate sets of tags may appear and cause conflicts. The supplied guidance recommends viewing the homepage source and searching for instances of og: when investigating this issue. Resolving such a conflict requires disabling one of the plugins.
Social networks may cache Open Graph properties for up to 24 hours or longer. Consequently, changes may not appear immediately when a page or post has already been shared.
Installation and support
Install and activate Open Graphite Pro in WordPress, then configure the homepage settings and select the post types to enable. Add or edit page-level values through the Open Graphite metabox, and use the available previews and check tool during review.
Open Graphite Pro includes one-on-one priority support for its license holders. The product information distinguishes this from support for the free version through the WordPress support page.
