Advanced filtering for WordPress content
Category AJAX Filter Pro extends Category AJAX Filter for websites that need more precise ways to browse posts, custom post types, and WooCommerce products. Visitors can refine results instantly without a page reload, while site administrators can create and style filtering interfaces with the drag-and-drop CAF Builder.
The builder treats each filter element as a module, including search boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, and range sliders. Separate settings are available for desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts. Filters can be added with a shortcode, connected to existing layouts, or used with a listing designed in the builder.
AI search and custom fields
AI Search helps visitors search by intent rather than exact keywords. A query such as “red shoes under 50” can match against content, taxonomy terms, brands, attributes, and price. The feature works with WordPress posts, custom post types, and WooCommerce products.
Pro also allows custom fields to become filterable. This includes WooCommerce product custom fields, which can be used with checkbox, dropdown, range slider, or search modules. Search boxes can be targeted to specific custom fields for more focused results.
More control over filter presentation
Filter terms can be manually reordered with drag-and-drop instead of being arranged alphabetically or by count. Add icons or images to filter terms alongside their labels or in place of them. For WooCommerce stores, attribute swatches provide an additional visual way to present product attributes.
Product badges add extra information to product listings, while the Pro feature set also includes analytics and SEO controls. These tools support a more deliberate approach to organizing, presenting, and evaluating filtered content.
WooCommerce and listing workflows
Use the plugin with simple, variable, and grouped WooCommerce products. Connect filters to an existing shop layout or create a complete product listing with modules such as Product Image, Product Price, Add to Cart, and Badges.
For editorial and directory websites, the same filtering approach can be used with standard posts and any custom post type registered on the site. Filters can work with categories, tags, brands, attributes, prices, taxonomies, and selected custom fields. The plugin is described as compatible with Elementor, Divi, WP Bakery, WooCommerce shop pages, and major themes, with Elementor Loop Builder support. It also works with custom post type and custom field plugins including ACF, CPT UI, and Meta Box.
Builder workflow
The visual builder uses three stages: set the query and filtering logic, design the post or product item template, and configure layout settings. Layout controls include columns, posts per page, gaps, filter position, sort order, and pagination.
Pre-built filter layouts and post item designs provide starting points. Completed work can be exported as JSON for reuse across sites, or templates can be imported from other filters.
Installation and setup
- Open the CAF Builder and create a filter from a template or begin a new configuration.
- Set the query and filters, add the required modules, and configure the listing and responsive layout.
- Save the filter and place it with a shortcode alongside an existing layout or your own listing.
After setup, visitors can use the filter controls to refine posts, custom post types, or WooCommerce products through instant AJAX results.
