Build structured WordPress timelines
Timeline Express Pro is designed for presenting dated announcements in a clear, animated vertical timeline. Add announcement posts, assign their dates, and display them in chronological order on your site. The timeline can be used for company history, product roadmaps, event records, personal achievements, customer history, and other content organized around dates.
Place a timeline where it is needed with the included [timeline-express] shortcode. Add the shortcode to a page or post, publish it, and the timeline can be viewed on the front end. The layout is responsive and mobile friendly, with CSS3 animation effects and automatic adjustment based on announcement content.
Pro tools for multiple timelines
The Pro edition adds support for creating multiple timelines and assigning announcements to one timeline or to all available timelines. This makes it practical to separate different histories, projects, departments, or content collections while using the same WordPress site.
- Create and manage multiple timelines.
- Assign announcements to one timeline or all timelines.
- Create categories for announcements.
- Filter announcements by category on the front end.
- Sort by category, timeline, or a combination of both.
- Use timeline sorting features to control how content is organized.
- Choose ascending or descending display order.
Present announcements clearly
Each announcement can include a custom image and a selected icon. Timeline Express includes hundreds of Font Awesome icons, allowing different announcements to use different visual markers. You can also control the announcement excerpt length, hide dates, or remove the read more link from the timeline when a simpler presentation is preferred.
For a more compact display, the Pro edition includes a tighter layout with less distance between announcements. This can help when a timeline contains many entries or when the page should keep related milestones closer together.
Practical workflows
Start by installing the plugin and creating announcement posts from the Timeline Express menu below Posts. Add the relevant dates, content, images, icons, and categories. When the announcements are ready, create a page or post and insert [timeline-express]. You can then place the page in the site navigation or use the shortcode wherever the timeline should appear.
Timeline Express can support timelines for company histories, release cycles, event schedules, police or fire histories, social feed-style records, and post, page, or custom post timelines. Its translation-ready structure and localized date formatting are also suited to international sites. The source states compatibility with WPML and Polylang.
