Create interactive quizzes in WordPress
Quiz Maker Pro and Quiz Maker Premium are paid editions of Quiz Maker by AYS. They are intended for publishing interactive quizzes, online exams, personality tests, trivia, knowledge tests, IQ quizzes, assessments, and other questionnaire-style experiences on a WordPress site.
The workflow is designed to be direct: create questions, select the question types, configure the quiz, adjust its presentation, and publish it with the shortcode [ays_quiz id=’quiz_id’] in a page, post, or text widget.
Question formats
Quiz Maker supports a broad set of question formats for different testing and engagement needs:
- Radio questions for one correct multiple-choice answer
- Checkbox questions for multiple correct answers
- Dropdown questions with one answer selected from a list
- Text, short text, number, and date questions
- Fill-in-the-blank and dropdown fill-in-the-blanks questions
- Matching and ranking questions
- Banner HTML content for informational messages that do not require a response
These formats can be used for trivia, true-or-false and yes-or-no activities, personality quizzes, exams, diagnostic quizzes, BuzzFeed-style quizzes, and practice tests.
Paid quiz capabilities
The paid editions include capabilities for more structured and engaging quiz experiences. A quiz can use a timer, with automatic submission when the time ends, making the feature useful for exams and timed tests. Multi-page quizzes, quiz navigation, custom pagination, and a timer for each question are also listed among the Pro demonstrations.
For scored activities, configure a pass score and display different result messages for users who pass or fail. Intervals can show different messages according to a user’s score and support personality-quiz formats. You can also write an explanation for each question and display it when the user answers.
Other listed options include scheduling a quiz for a particular time, changing button text through General Settings, redirecting users after completion, and using leaderboards. The available demonstrations also include quizzes with certificates, paid quizzes using PayPal, flashcards, and TOEFL practice tests.
Practical use cases
- Build knowledge checks, online exams, and assessment quizzes.
- Create personality tests with score-based interval messages.
- Publish trivia, IQ, math, language, or practice quizzes.
- Use timed or multi-page formats for more formal testing.
- Present feedback through answer explanations and result messages.
