Manage WordPress files from the backend
File Manager Pro Edition provides a central way to work with files and folders directly inside WordPress. It is intended for administrators and users who need to upload, download, copy, move, rename, edit, delete, or organize files without relying on a separate FTP workflow. The interface supports drag-and-drop operations, multiple file selection, list and icon views, search, browsing history, and keyboard shortcuts.
The file manager can work with the root directory, allowing access to files inside and outside the WordPress installation. Its toolbar and context menu bring common file operations together, while previews and thumbnails make it easier to identify media and other supported file types.
Pro controls for users and folders
- Private folders: give different folders to different user roles or individual users.
- Shortcodes: make file manager functionality available on the frontend with custom attributes.
- User and role controls: control file operations and hide or lock files and folders for selected roles or users.
- Hidden files and folders: keep selected items out of view for specified users or roles.
- File restrictions: control which file types may be uploaded or downloaded and control the upload size.
Files, archives, and editing
File Manager Pro Edition supports creating and extracting ZIP, RAR, TAR, and GZIP archives. Drag and drop can be used for moving and copying files, and the file operation tools include creating folders and files, renaming items, editing files, and deleting them. A built-in code editor includes multiple themes and a fullscreen view setting. The syntax checker can review code before it is saved.
Common file types can be previewed, including media such as video, audio, and MP3 files. PDF preview is supported, image files can display thumbnails, and file information can be opened through the Get Info option. The interface also supports directory size calculations, email sharing, and a built-in trash area for moving deleted files before removal.
WordPress media and backup tools
Images, PDFs, and ZIP files can be uploaded to selected folders and made available through the native WordPress Media Library. The backup and restore feature supports theme files, plugin files, the uploads folder, and database data on the server. FTP/SFTP support is also included as an alternative to FTP or cPanel workflows.
Responsive file workflow
The interface is designed for tablet and mobile use as well as standard desktop administration. Multiple themes, icon and list navigation, thumbnails, previews, shortcuts, and drag-and-drop uploading help users handle routine file tasks from one place.
